The best way to become incorporeal?
I am working on a 4th level Ranger and intends to have a spirit animal as his companion (basicly an etheral version of the animal) and I want to know what is the best way my character could become etheral too?
EDIT: What I probaly want is to be incorporeal or just to get ghost-touch armour and ride him.

Re: The best way to become etheral?
There are some nice Armor bonuses in the MIC that let you become ethereal a certain amount of times per day.

Re: The best way to become etheral?
Okay, it's called Etheralness, and its a bonus that costs 49,000 gp( not a +3 or +4).... Sorry, That's way out of reach for a 4th level character. You'll just have to wait I guess.

Well, you could buy a scroll of plane shift.
Check out my class, the Clothfighter.

Re: The best way to become etheral?
Etherealness, especially in a useful level (i.e. not "stuck on the Ethereal plane", but more like "able to cross between Ethereal and Material at will") is way out of your reach at 4th level. Forget it.
Or become a ghost. Unfortunately, the LA alone is higher than your ECL.

Re: The best way to become etheral?
You could try using rules from the Ghostwalk supplement. It has rules that allow this kind of thing. I'm kinda rusty on the details since I don't have my book with me.

Re: The best way to become incorporeal?
Oh, actually, if you just want to become incorporeal rather than ethereal, there's the phantom template in MM4 or MM5. But that, again, has LA (and the template is possibly the worst entry in the book; just awfully written).

Re: The best way to become etheral?
I was looking through that and there does not actualy seem to be any rules for being a ghost, you just are. They coud have at least included a template.
Tsotha-lanti: I will take a look at that as soon as I can if the LA is low it could be what I need.
EDIT: it was MMV

Re: The best way to become incorporeal?
Hmmm. Ring of Blinking is 27,000 GP. Not exactly in your price range yet, but cheaper than the armor enhancement thingy. You would need to keep activating it every 7 rounds, but you'd be able to interact with your spirit animal normally. You'd also have a 20% miss chance whenever you attacked, but you could eliminate that with three feats: Blindfight+Mage Slayer+Pierce Magical Concealment.

Archon of Nine, Jellobomber, King of Pong, Lightning Thief
