Looking for a prison map
I'm looking to create a prison break adventure for my party, but have been unable to find a map that I like for the prison complex. I'm hoping for a prison that is larger than the Blackmaw Prison mine from Dungeon 135 (page 41). If anyone knows where I can find a good prison map (I'm fine adapting other maps, but I'd rather not have to draw my own if possible).
Thanks.

Re: Looking for a prison map
Hmm, Neverwinter nights had a prison in the first chaper that was pretty big and nasty, possibly you can find a map of that?

Here is an image of part of the map, it's an odd design but it works well."Sometimes, we’re heroes. Sometimes, we shoot other people right in the face for money."

Re: Looking for a prison map
If you're ever stuck for maps in the future, I find university/college campuses make really good maps that can be modified to resemble any large building or complex of your choice.

Re: Looking for a prison map
DMG2 has a prison map in their Saltmarsh material. Don't remember if it meets your specs or not, but it's an option.
It's actually rather funny that the prison is one of two buildings they have mapped out in that material. It's as if they planned for the PCs to make prison breaks.Halbert's Cubicle - Wherein I write about gaming and . . . you know . . . stuff.

Re: Looking for a prison map
Hehehe, who does like their college during exam time?
Seriously, though, they can be really useful. They're often built into irregularly shaped plots of land and have weird buildings, all of which are built close together to maximise space efficiency in a way that makes them usable for underground caverns or space stations or what have you.
A couple of examples that just sticking 'campus map' into Google image search came up with can be found here, here and here.de·fen·es·tra·tion (dē-fĕn'ĭ-strā'shən)

Re: Looking for a prison map and adventure setup
Ok, so I've got a couple of maps that I like. I'm leaning towards the Saltmarsh Garrison map from the DMG2 at the moment, but that could change... we'll see.
For the actual setup of this, I'm looking to have the prison breakout be the first session for the party, and I want to make sure that it requires a fair amount of party ingenuity (I'm hoping that will stick with the party, but we'll see). Now, I'm going to be making this even harder on myself, because not only am I trying to do this for 4e (and so don't know what the characters will be), I don't even know who my players are going to be. Anyways, I'd like input on how much I should require of the party (eg, how heavily is the prison staffed, how far must the party traverse to get out, etc). For the last point, it seems like it would have to be very different if I put the party on level 1 vs. level 2 vs. level 3 of the prison complex. Additionally, I'm a little concerned about leaving the party with no gear. I have no problem forcing them to recover their gear early on, but I'm thinking it'd be ideal if I can force them to escape without any gear (making use of what they can improvise, or what they take from the guards if they end up fighting).
Anyways, what kind of guard density/numbers should I be looking at? How many levels should the party have to make their way through to escape? Any other concerns (besides my insanity to prepare this for a group I don't know players for, much less characters)?
Thanks
