    Default High Flying Adventures

I'm working on a D&D campaign that involves some time in the air, and I'm wondering if there are any books that are based around this, or at least include things relavent to this.

I'm looking for things like airships, flying and levitating magic, flying/winged variants of classes and races, and the like.

    Anywhere I should look?

OD&D: "Top Ballista" features the Flying City of Serraine(sp?) and its inhabitants, "Champions of Mystara" features flying ships galore as does "Into the Maelstrom". "The Book of Wondrous Inventions" includes cloud castles, parachutes, transforming flying mecha and self-aware helicopter gunships! IIRC the setting also had winged elves (the Avariel) and winged minotaurs.
That entire setting was one epic example of Refuge in Audacity.

AD&D: "Spelljammer" - flying ships and space travel in D&D. Also laser-firing space whales.

D&D3: "Manual of the Planes", Elemental Plane of Air.

One of the (non-D&D) "Forgotten Futures" collections also plays with the space in an ocean trope and posits an ecosystem analogous to that of the terrestrial oceans in the upper atmosphere. Giant sky-squids of doom ahoy.

The Eberron CS has Sharn, a city built in a "manifest zone" linked to the Plane of Air...lots of flying gizmos. I'd look in the Eberron CS book, the Sharn sourcebook (Sharn: City of Towers), and Magic of Eberron...one of those is bound to turn up some stuff.

Just a word of caution: If you think combat rules are complex, just imagine how 3D dogfights will be like.

    Like this?

Eeeh. Scary. But no matter! I just better figure out how to use them, because I'll have to use that twice. In the air and under the sea.

    Thanks for the help.

I just had an idea for two flying airships facing off like a Star Destroyer and a Calamari Cruiser with the crew waiting in the "hanger" to "pilot" magic carpets, or simply flying themselves with magic of some kind and engaging in a massive dogfight.

I just had an idea for my next adventure.
