Re: OOTS #464 - The Discussion Thread
Technically, it's #564, not #464.
Anyway, one wonders if the amnesia field surrounding the valley is going to affect them again somehow....

The Oracle is a cleric? I thought he was just a vessel for Tiamat's will or something.

Re: OOTS #464 - The Discussion Thread
back to the oracle now? excellent! this looks to be interesting. i wonder if they'll pass the "all you can eat" hydra buffet, and the other tests. (maybe there are new ones?) but mostly the interaction with the oracle intrigues... perhaps new prphecies as well? and will roy be raised allready?

Why? Why, oh why, can't you solve any problem with a cracker?
Ooooohhhh.... they could really have thought of that earlier, blame on you Haley. (just a joke... I would never have thought of that^^)
Also, good to see Celia again... i was begining to wonder where she'd be... but of course, vegetarian.
And I have to admit... I really love this oracle^^

Re: OOTS #564 - The Discussion Thread
Now that's some nice lateral thinking right there.
SpoilerToo bad the Oracle is such a mizerly little so and so.
Still, this lets us get more wiseacre comments from him, so I await it with breathless anticipation.Last edited by Porthos; 2008-06-12 at 12:46 AM.

Re: OOTS #564 - The Discussion Thread
SpoilerHmm... I'm remembering Belkar's prophecy right now...
Dun dun DUN!!!
Perhaps Haley finds out the Oracle isn't really a cleric, or if he is he won't or can't help them, and Belkar kills him in response, resulting in more Celia-Haley-Belkar tension... until they leave the valley?
No, they wouldn't remember that guy. Memory charm, remember?
I was going to say it was interesting that Haley would remember the Oracle from the "gift horse in the mouth" prophecy, implying that prophecy was being fulfilled NOW, when we all thought she had asked how she would get her voice back. Until I noticed what reminded her of that prophecy. Until that point, this strip seemed somewhat disjointed. I honestly did not notice that line until it was pointed out below and I still took some time to notice it, thanks to being off to the side and dwarfed by Haley's line in the same panel.Last edited by Morgan Wick; 2008-06-12 at 12:55 AM.

Re: OOTS #564 - The Discussion Thread
Did not see that one coming I must say, though as soon as I read Belkar's parrot line I knew something was up. Nice twist. Of course, this could be the definitive fulfilling of Belkar's prophecy if he causes the Oracle's death somehow. But we shall see.
I also like comics like this were the vicious side of Belkar's personality does not shine through so much. Makes him seem more like a person, albeit still callous and shallow.

Re: OOTS #564 - The Discussion Thread
She shouldn't remember him/it though, right?
Anyway, if it is the Oracle Haley is thinking of, and if the card game is showing the same character on one of the cards, then
Spoilerthe Oracle is a Shaman. Does anyone remember if Shamans (if that is actually a PC class) get ressurection magic or not?Last edited by Porthos; 2008-06-12 at 12:57 AM.

Re: OOTS #564 - The Discussion Thread
That is a great point. That cinches it for me: Haley is definitely thinking of the Oracle.
Haley Logic Train:- Belkar says "don't look a gift parrot in the beak".
- That phrase reminds Haley of the last time she remembered hearing it (from the mouth of the Oracle).
- Oracle = Cleric.
- Let's cut a huge swath of time and
shake downvisit the Oracle again.
I doff my virtual cap to you, sir.Last edited by Porthos; 2008-06-12 at 01:15 AM.
