Ewwies... throwing up is one of the most disgusting things to me EVER, so I didn't find this strip particularly funny.

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Well, he's getting sicker and sicker, which is what I expected.
But I don't think any of us expected that.
I so called Belkar was yelling in anger, not pain.
And just as how the markings on the sign in 568 kicked the humor up to 11, Celia's "My mouth was open!" pushed the grossness to similar levels.
What the hell has Belkar been eating (besides chocolate) to make his vomit look that color?
Oh, and Roy's trigger word is appropriately goofy.

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Given that "too sick to do anything" (I think that's what Roy said when explaining the Mark) meant either vomiting or a very high fever, and vomiting has more possibilities for comedy, you could kind of see that coming.
That said... LOL!

I hate it when you vomit again and again... it kills me so badly. I feel for Belkar.
And yes. Disgusting, we really didn't want to know that Celia.

Well, he can always use the oracle's head as an airsickness bag now!
Hehehe. "Sucks to be you, I guess," indeed.
BTW, does this remind anyone else a little bit of Family Guy? :) When they all drink Ipecac, and then gamble the last slice of pie on who will throw up last?

Eek, I almost never say anything about the comic, but, that is kinda gross, and the fact that i've been dry heaving, that hurts me to look at....AWESOME JOB GIANT!....

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
What's scary is I thought of that exact scene earlier this morning, now it gets brought up with today's strip.
Well, that's not so much scary as it is frustrating, because this kind of thing always happens. I think of a joke or scene or line, and then it gets brought up later. It's like I'm psychic, but at 1/2 a level or something.Last edited by Dunesen; 2008-06-22 at 03:41 AM.

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Since Elan isn't around, I think
the GiantLord Shojo is worthy of some congratulations for his very smooth recounting of the terms Belkar could fall afoul of.
Note that it's a Greater Mark of Justice.
I also think vomiting is among the ickiest things to experience, but it couldn't have happened to a nicer person. He does look pretty pathetic in that last panel though... and you can't spell sympathetic without it... but eh. It's schadenfreude for now.If lovingmakes me Lawful Evil, then I don't wanna be Neutral Good!

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Urrgh. Vomiting is not cool, but since it's meant to be a punishment anyway...
Celia really had it coming though, not just for the useless stuff she said to Haley but for standing near a vomiting guy. Use some common sense, lady.

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Squiddleydoodleflutter!
I'm guessing now that Belkar has ruined their chance of sorting out the Roy question quickly, they're gonna have to go try and raise Roy and cure Belkar, and they won't have the time or the safety to reach Cliffport. Looks like Greysky City it is!"They couldn't know that the points from the mainline to the siding were frozen, and the signal should have been set at 'DANGER', but snow had forced it down."

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
Hmpf... I think the beginning was funny, but all the vomiting... dunno... It's kinda low level humor, I think... I hardly dare criticizing Mr Burlew, but I hope he won't go on with vomit jokes for B...
Otherwise, Shojo's recap and the command word were funny, hehe.

Re: OOTS #569 - The Discussion Thread
This might be a rather icky version of the "25% chance of acting normally, otherwise take no action" option for bestow greater curse, which is presumably the spell delivered by the greater mark of justice. Two thoughts come to mind:
Spoiler
--not only will those kobolds still be dying in droves one round out of four if they come after Belkar, they'll really be hating life during the other three rounds, and;
--it's fairly obvious that the caster didn't describe to Roy the *precise* effect the Mark would have on Belkar when triggered, or he would have objected strenuously to the consequences of Belkar misbehaving being that *Roy* would get sprayed with gallons of pea soup.
