Default Kurrothk [Vestige](something of a binder binge)

    Kurrothk, the Penitent Demon

    Level: 6th
    Bind DC: 30

In ages past, the Balor demon Kurrothk spread his savagery and his malice across all that was. He realized his sins and repaid his debt to the multiverse, but before he made his final ascension to true purity he was assassinated and was lost to the ether, becoming a vestige.
Legend: When the blood wars began in the beginning of time, one demon shone over all the rest for his killing ability and his utter skill and joy in taking lives and causing pain. For countless centuries he continues on his way until he saw a dying angel beg for mercy. Some binder scholars say before the angel's death Kurrothk was imbued with his good nature and his love for life. Kurrothk simply stared at the dying angel for a moment but soon overcame this good nature that lay deep in his soul and slew the angel. Slowly, after countless more centuries he grew more merciful, more kind and most of all, more good-hearted. He realized his many sins against all of creation, and threw down his vorpal sword and his flaming whip and after taking flight to the upper planes for redemption, tore off his massive wings. He was first treated with contempt and distrust, but soon was accepted and trusted. He grew through many stages in the upper planes, becoming less and less demonic, and more and more celestial. His horns were severed, his wings replaces with the feathered wings of an angel and his abyssal essence wiped clean. Though the demons of the Abyss did not like his betrayal, especially to the forces of good. A demon of great stealth and skill with poison managed to sneak into the upper planes and find Kurrothk where he rest, meditating. The demon put a substance into Kurrothk that is still debated over by binder scholars to this day. Whatever it was seemed only to have mostly killed him, leaving a small portion of both his abyssal and celestial nature to the void and he became a vestige.
Special requirements: Kurrothk requires that you do not draw his seal in the presence of anything resembling demons, the Abyss or anything that represents them.
Manifestation: When the binder cries out Kurrothk's name, there's a sudden sound, like a massive battle being held miles and miles away. The sound eventually gets closer until it stops, a dead silence for but a moment and then on the seal appears a dying angel, bloody and wounded from the uncaring attacks of demonkind. It lay there silent until the binder speaks again. It then simply smiles and from a gaping wound on its chest bursts a crazed, bloodthirsty, blood-soaked balor gazing down at the binder in a rage, not talking, only roaring. As the binder speaks to the impatient balor it slowly become less and less menacing, his skin lightens, his wings and horns deteriorate and he drops his weapons. By the time the binder is done making his plea Kurrothk speaks in a gentle, noble tone "So be it." and a pair of white, feathered wings burst from his back and a moment later he disappears in a flash of light.
Sign: Your general appearance seems to lighten and become more attractive, in a very celestial way. This does not affect your skill checks in any way. You also gain a superficial, harmless, vicious, bloody wound across your chest. Should anyone attempt to look into the wound they will see a demon struggling to break free and eviscerate anyone in sight.
Influence: When influenced by Kurrothk you are always trying to better yourself. If you see a poor beggar you might give him a coin, if a person grows ill you may stay by their bedside until they are better or pass on, you may donate some gold to a good church in need of it, etc. Also, you can never make yourself deliver a coup de grace on anyone you know to be of good alignment.
Granted Abilities: Kurrothk grants those bound to him the power to both resist and destroy the powers of evil, as well as imbuing you with the very evil he seeks to diminish.
Holy Profanity/Profane Benediction: Kurrothk himself never had stable footing on any one plane when the immortal coil was cut, so to speak, and the energies of both good and evil suffuse themselves into your body and weapons. As a standard action, you may make yourself resilient to one side of the coin or the other, gaining DR 10/good or 10/evil. At 15th level this increases to DR 15/good or DR 15/evil. Additionally, by taking another standard action you may imbue any melee weapon you wield to be both holy and unholy. These abilities last for a number of rounds equal to your binder level, and cannot be used again until 5 rounds after last used.
Kurrothk's Wings: While bound to Kurrothk, you grow a pair of wings, choosing one of two kinds, either a pair of white angelic wings that connect elegantly to the binder's back, or a pair of balor's leathery wings, which seem to connect to the binder's back by a join that appears to, beyond all evidence for the opposite, be ripped off and jabbed right back onto the stump. These wings can be grown and removed both as a move action, but removal entails ripping them from your back. This does not harm the binder, but usually leaves an awful mess. The wings grant a fly speed equal to your base land speed with good maneuverability.
Merciless Killer: Your skill in battle begins to match that of the penitent fiend before his ascension into the heavens. You become proficient with all martial weapons as well as the whip. You gain a +4 profane bonus to attack and damage rolls, and any martial or exotic melee weapon you wield is considered to have the flaming enhancement. Lastly, you gain a +8 bonus to all damage rolls when performing a coup de grace on an evil outsider.
Summon the Loathed: Kurrothk hates demons more than most everything else in the multiverse, but that does not mean he still wasn't one himself. When bound to Kurrothk, you may summon a particular kind of demon based on your effective binder level, as on the table below. The caster level for this ability is equal to your binder level. You must show Kurrothk's sign to use this ability.
    {table="head"]Binder Level|Demon
    12th-13th|Babau
    14th-16th|Succubus
    17th-19th|Vrock
    20th+|Hezrou

over all it is cool. your writing style seems to have changed with this entry, and is not as concise and eloquent as normal, though i am trying to determine exactly what it is about it that strikes me as off.

nice concept though. you seem to eenjoy mixing the fienish and angelic aspects of things.

    anyway, cool stuff. aaron out.

That may have been intended, back in the terrible reaches of my subconscious. I must have just been in a very esoteric mindset when writing this up. And yes, half-demon/half-angels are one of my favorite mythological occurrences. Glad you like.
