Feykind are often seen as guardians of the forest and of nature, defending it from being despoiled or destroyed at the hands of mortals. And while dryads or pixies may seem little defense against men with axes and swords, nature is not without her defenses. In times of great peril and desolation, Wyld Maidens are born. The very spirit of nature itself comes upon a dryad, freeing it from its bond to a tree and empowering it, granting it a great and terrible strength, transforming it into a powerful sentinel. Wyld Maidens look like dryads or nymphs, but have cruel, feline claws and mouths full of sharp teeth. They wear no vestments, their forms covered only by their long, ivy-strewn hair. Wyld Maidens are not merciless, and will not harm those they see as innocents, but anyone who takes axe or fire to a forest is marked for the retribution of the Wyld Maidens.

    Blood of the Forest (Su)
A Wyld Maiden’s blood nurtures the soil it is shed upon, causing verdant plants to sprout up from even the most barren earth. Whenever a Wyld Maiden is dealt 10 or more points of piercing or slashing damage, its blood is shed, causing entangling vines to sprout in all squares adjacent to it. All adjacent creatures must make a DC 21 Reflex save or be entangled by the vines for one minute, after which the plants wither and fall off.

    Primal Surge (Su)
Whenever a Wyld Maiden is reduced to 0 hp, it may choose to invoke its primal surge ability. It is healed 10d6 hp, gains a +2 enhancement bonus to all stats, and is transformed into the form of an animal, as the polymorph spell, but the transformation and bonuses last until the next time it sleeps. A Wyld Maiden can only use this ability once per day, and cannot voluntarily undo the transformation.

    Rend
If a Wyld Maiden hits with both claw attacks, it latches onto the opponent’s body and tears the flesh. This attack automatically deals an additional 2d4+7 points of damage.

    Maiden’s Gaze (Su)
A Wyld Maiden can sense the presence of those who have despoiled the forest. When a maiden looks on a creature that has felled a tree or killed an animal within the forest where it dwells in the last 24 hours, it sees a glowing mark upon that creature’s brow.

cool stuff. you should give her nature's stride or whatever it is that the druids/rangers/scouts have. maybe the ability to hide in plain sight and racial bonuses to hide/move silent, all within woodlands.

This is the start of a good idea, but I don't think you went far enough with it. First, it leads to some questions. What does having a glowing mark do? How long does it last? Can it be removed?

Second, it could easily be overused. Obviously just felling a tree or killing an animal shouldn't be that problematic. Trees are felled by beavers and animals kill each other for food all the time. There's a difference between hunting for sport and hunting for food. There is even a difference between cutting down diseased and dead trees for a fire from cutting healthy trees and saplings (which make lousy fire wood anyway).

The mark should be a designation that a creature has done something inappropriate to earn such a mark.

This leads to my third point, does the maiden see the mark or does she set the mark? If it is a mark that only she can see, it's not going to be very useful. On the other hand, if a character now has a glowing rune on his forehead that all fey creatures can see (other creatures may or may not see the rune) it will have broader effects.

Frankly, it makes more sense if she sets the mark on a person who she senses has harmed "her" forest or any of its in habitants. She should be able to remove the mark.

Here is how I would change this:

Maiden’s Gaze (Su): A Wyld Maiden can sense the presence of those who have despoiled the forest. When a maiden looks on a creature that has felled a healthy tree or unnecessarily killed an animal within the forest where it dwells, it sets a glowing mark upon that creature’s brow that can only be seen by fey creatures. Anyone with a mark gains a penalty of -5 to Diplomacy and Bluff checks against fey creatures until the mark is removed. Moreover, any fey seeing such a mark has an unfriendly attitude towards that person. A wyld maiden can remove her mark but usually sets out a task to be completed before doing so. The mark cannot be dispelled, but an atonement spell will remove it.

The mark has no effect, and is visible only to the maiden. It just lets them see who's done what.

The point of that is that the Wyld Maidens are Knights Templar types who only show up in times of extreme duress for the forest - they don't care about just cause, if someone's been hurting their forest, they're gonna attack them.

Gotcha. So the mark is really only there so the Maiden knows who to blame. Well, it's a pretty minor ability. Here I thought you were going for something more retributive. On the other hand, you still didn't say how long the mark lasted or how it can be removed.

If it's permanent, then it leads to some interesting things - practically everyone in an adventuring party has killed an animal (self defense?)

Just nitpicking, but a +2 enhancement bonus to what?

Nice catch, it was supposed to be to all stats.
