Energon Names?
I was wondering how the names for Energons were chosen? I'm assuming it's an asian language of some kind, but never know if they just make them up or not.

Re: Energon Names?
I eventually clicked on this thread just to see why a post about Transformers had been made in the gaming forum.
You're talking about Xag-ya and Xeg-yi? Well, they're from a 1982 Monster Manual. Based on that I would not expect there to be any deep meaning behind the names: they probably just sounded cool and weird to Gygax when he made them up.

Re: Energon Names?
Wow, a Lost Caverns of Tsojcanth reference. Didn't think anyone remembered that module.
As for the Xeg-yi and the Xag-ya, no I have never heard of any standardization in the naming. Like a whole lot of other things, Gygax thought the name sounded cool as far as I know.

Re: Energon Names?
Funny you should mention that. The top result when I googled "energon d&d" to find an answer to your original question: Astral Energons.

Re: Energon Names?
Well, we've got:
Xag-ya - positive
Xeg-yi - negative
Xac-yel - fire
Xac-yij - acid
Xap-yaup - electricity
Xong-yong - sonic
Xor-yost - cold
and
Xag-az - er, mind-screws?
Look more like pure invention than a language to me, so really it's a matter of taste and tone what you call your creation.
