Creating a heretical order

I was just in a topic for a player creating an assassins guild for a player in exactly my predicament. Where his DM gave him homework, only mine is three weeks over due.

I'm laying a favored soul of a deity I created called "The Webspinner", in a mostly evil campaign, as you might guess this deity who I often refer to as a she is a conspirator among the gods. I need help coming up with everything from a vague outine of a back story.

Take a look at the Literati (parts 1, 2, and 3) on this site. That will give you a good idea of how very secretive and manipulative society could work. Add a religious twist, and see how it goes from there.
