Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
You know what. I think that I need AI or Inkscape. Sodipodi seems to have it's limits. And I think I've reached them. Either that or I've reached my limits.
Nice work Ego. I think you're better than me now...*Sigh*

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
This is my first. The lines are too thin and the leg positions suck. Still, I hope to get better with practice.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
I think the issue, Chris, is that the upside down V that you use to create the seperation in the legs is to lopsided and so the little bump in the back to represents her rear end just ends like looking like she has one extremely large thigh and maybe a tumor...
But that's just me being overly critical, I think overall its a good job.Verminaard avatar by drKarling

Do you have any suggestions on how I might improve, other than thickening the lines?
EDIT
Question for those that use Inkscape and The Gimp: I'm trying to fix it up (thicker lines, larger, transparent background) but I can't make the background transparent. If you could impart the knowledge I would be greatful. Here's my attempt:
As you can see, the lines got all pixelated, though the background is transparent. Help me, please.
EDIT
Hmm. I might make the lines even thicker. Most of them are at 2.0 now. I may raise them by a .5...

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
The blockiness is because GIF doesnt support partial transparency, you need to cheat via adding a second layer, filling it with white, then magicwand selecting the transparent bits of the main layer (with ~15% tolerence) and removing that selection from the white layer.
As for line thickness, 2.0 is what I use, it seems to be a good thicknessMan this thing was full of outdated stuff.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
I did make the second layer. Wonder why it failed... maybe I accidentally erased the layer... I'll try again in a bit.
EDIT
Nope, did it wrong again. Any chance you could post a guide? I am making a second layer, coloring it white with the paint-can, moving it back, using the wand to select it, pressing Ctrl+K, then saving as a .gif. What am I doing wrong?

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
Ok then, you've set up your white layer and such. With the AVATAR's layer active, select the bits you want transparent with the wand tool. You should get something like this:
You then switch to the WHITE layer, keeping your selected area. CTRL+K should remove the selected portions of the layer, leaving you with this:
Then save as a .gif
The first image didn't recieve a proper 'white layer' treatment.Man this thing was full of outdated stuff.

Dang. Going to try again. I wanna get this right so that I can move on.
Okay, maybe this will work...

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase
So.. what, I can post all my crappy, OotS-style, Paint-forged avatar-creations here?
Cool.
The Witch-King (of Amroth)
Uhhh... It was my first OotS style avatar, and, do to lack o' legs/arms/visible apenntages, he may not look it. But hey, It's paint, and I like the Witch-King. He's the King.
Also, it's how I have invisioned the Witch-King via the books. It may or may not reflect the movie's perspective. The above post sponsored by Fullbladder Manufacturing.

No, it's not. Regardless is a real word, but irregardless isn't really correct.
Let's try to get off this subject and back to art now, okay?
