1001 Character Quirks
Name says it all list any character quirks you can come up with
1.Sorceress who cast spells via hugging her teddy.
2. Said sorceress Talks in third person.
3. Said Sorceress very emotional. If shes really happy spells start going off. If she's sad she sits down squeezes teddy and starts crying. Then Spells start going off.
4. Suicidal familiar with more brains then the sorceress.
5. Said familiar getting kicks out of trying to convince the tree loving cleric that he was a Avatar of the trees.
Unfortunately this character didn't see play.
6. Ogre (Dont ask me why the DM allowed it) who didn't speak common.
7. Said ogre had to take stupidity checks. He once sat on a poll. Tore poll out of the ground (We needed it to get down a well via some chain.) And once down there managed to pull the poll down and use it as a weapon while still attached to the chain.
8. When not using pole on a train his main attack was using his foes as clubs.Last edited by The Duskblade; 2007-08-07 at 04:10 AM.

5. Two words; Halfling Barbarian.
6. Named Bigglestaag.
7. A character who turns on the rest of the party and becomes the 'nemesis' character for a few good sessions... while being Neutral Good (That story is courtesy of a friend of mine. ;-))
8. 18 Intelligence, 6 Wisdom. "Stand back, everyone! I'll handle this basilisk! First, let's see if it has any magical properties... ARCANE SIGHT!"Paragon Badger (14 HP)

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
9. Elf wizard who, despite having 19 INT and 13 WIS, can't tell the difference between orcs and hobgoblins. (This was the wizard in our party--the player originally didn't know the difference, but it became a running joke and we just said that his traumatic experience with orcs in his youth was to blame.)

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
13. A LE Fighter who thinks he is LG. Punishes those who do evil but way, way out of proportion. Think lots of torture for stealing a loaf of bread. Talks a lot about honor.
14. CN glory hound fighter. Lets the party do most of the work in killing something but always dashes in for that last critical blow. He then proceeds to give a speech about his glorious effort in slaying the x.[CENTER]So You Wanna Be A DM? A Potentially Helpful Guide

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
15. High int, low wis characters are fun. I made a jack of all trades swashbuckler who, compensating for his rather boring upbringing, traveled the world under a variety of comical aliases, impersonating people of various position or stature, and always getting into trouble with comical results.
16. Also, foppish characters
17. Mute. Can communicate via sign language, and understand common, but can't form words.
18. Extremely religious/spiritual non-divine characters.
19. Irrational fears.

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
20. I've always wanted to play a character with great CHA, purely because of the line in the PHB:
A character with high Charisma and low Intelligence can usually pass herself off as a knowledgeable, until she meets a true expert.
"Do you collect objet d'art?"
"If that's French for "Star Wars Collector's Glasses", then si."
21. A barbarian who does not understand magic. "You can cast Enlarge Person on me, but only if you give me something of yours to hold so that if something goes wrong I can break the spell by sprinkling salt on it".
22. A character who, sometime before their first adventure, got hit by a pixie arrow.
Everyone gets a big suprise when the Cleric hits 11th.

23. A character with a strong profession skill in short order chef with a particular fascination for Quiche. He insists that it's not chick food.
24. Talking bear with subtitles. Nuff' Said.
25. A character who tries to master the art of the net as a tactical weapon.
26. A girlfriend that transforms into a dragon
27. A character that shoots bad guys mid-monologue.
28. A professional liar/diplomat/noble/Jedi Consular
29. A character whose name no one can ever pronounce or remember correctly.
30. A beserker angel
31. The shiftiest man alive.
32. A summoner that pulls summons out of his hat.
33. A pirate that beats people with a fishing pole.
Sadly, these are all characters that have been played in our group.

34. A Mindbender who uses his at-will telepathy power to do untrained Perform (Karaoke) checks into people's heads at random. They don't know where it's coming from, and can't do anything to stop it.
I'd say that qualifies for Chaotic Evil.5e D&D Mythos Classes

54. Barbarian diplomat.
55. Barbarian Diplomat with low strength so that he's weak and picked-on by other barbarians.
56. Same as above but most levels are in Dragon Shaman in a dragon worshipping tribe so he becomes leader of said tribe.
Played. All refer to said character obviously.

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
41.1. Specific example: makes tough choices by "consulting the gods". Consults the gods by sacrificing a live chicken and reading its entrails.
Considered playing it as an easy way of giving my character motivation to do whatever I, as a player, wanted him to ("Why am I travelling with this party of schmucks? Because that's what the chicken entrails told me!").

Re: 1001 Character Quirks
One I intend to play sometime:
61: A combat-oriented cleric who worships Zeus, Odin, Jupiter, Ra, Manwe, and Pelor, collectively (you should see his holy symbol!)
62: Who receives direct inspired communication from said deities. Or at least, thinks he does. Fortunately they usually advise him wisely. Usually.
63: He wields a Legitimate Sword. That's an exotic weapon, 1-handed, which does 1d10 damage and requires a 13 strength for proficiency. Because obviously no weapon of the gods would be a bastard.
One I've actually played:
64: A halfling Professional Treasure-Hunter. No, of course he's not a thief (this was 2nd edition), he's Lawful! How dare you call him a thief! Basically, he is what the dwarves thought Bilbo was.
65: Whose primary weapon is a silver dagger, studded with (nonmagical) gems. Not for any mechanical advantage (though it did come in handy vs. lycanthropes), but just for the style of it.

68. A lich.
True story, a friend of mine's character was a lich, but the rest of the party didn't know... Well, he was hit with a vorpal weapon, and then his body ran over to pick his head back up. Needless to say, hilarity ensued.Paragon Badger (14 HP)
