Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Daleicious, while you're fixing the Haley drawing again, I think you should fix her knees. They seem too narrow. When you fix everything it will look excellent.
I like the V sketch, too. It must be very hard to draw a person whose gender is dubious. I think you took care of that well. The shoes are a little weird, tho (is V even wearing shoes? I can't tell.)The Linear Equation:
x[Linear Guild] = y[Order of the Stick]
And when graphed, it looks like this:

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Yes, those wrist/hand thingos... very nice! Hmm... that's interesting, about the shoes. Roy, Elan and Haley are drawn with shoes but not the others. But only Belkar have feet drawn... so I think they all have shoes. I like the ones you drew anyway. Very nice... fact is, I like your V very much all in all! Hehe... he can kill with those ears though!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Thanks again guys... I've added lots of details to V... check it out below. I agree with you Old One - plenty of characters are drawn without boots. I just assume they wear shoes instead. V's shoes probably won't even be visible in the final version since I plan to show a horde or hobgoblins in front of the OOTS. In any case, I've added some detail to them in the new version.
@Abacab - it's funny you mention her knees... they were even thinner before, but my girlfriend Rocky pointed out that they should be thicker, so I thickened them up. Perhaps I didn't go far enough! I'll give it another go when I touch her up.
@Old One - yeah, I like to draw my elves (and halflings and gnomes) with big ears. Not sure why... maybe WoW influenced me (those night-elves have ridiculous ears).
So here is the updated Vaarsuvius (plus a few detail views - I work at a much higher resolution than I use when posting to the web). Comments welcome!
I'll touch up Haley before I move on to Durkon.
Cheers!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
The new V looks awesome. Looking forward to the finished product.
Oh, and there's a reason V is often called Ears, you know.Last edited by Midnight Son; 2007-04-22 at 05:19 PM.

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Yet another Haley (she seems to be the toughest for me so far). I thickened her knees (thanks Abacab), thinned her torso under her right arm (thanks CSuperNova@deviantArt), and removed her rather masculine package (thanks Midnight Son).
Any more issues with this one? (I hope not - I like Haley but other characters are waiting in the wings! ^_^)
Thanks for all the helpful comments everyone!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Haley looks great now.
The only thing bothering me about V is that his/her/its neck is very thick. And considering the rest of the body is quite slender it looks out of place. Other than that it looks amazing

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Oooh! I love the details on the robe! Very nice indeed! I don't know what else to say about it really. It's just great... and I don't think the neck is too thick. Since he's tilting his/her face forward like that it'll look thicker then if he'd been stretching/looking up!
Haley look fine now! No more comments!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Daleicious, I agree about the neck being wide. Vaarsuvius' head and face aren't clicking for me yet, and that could be what's doing it.
Dispozition, I haven't seen the show, but the coloring job isn't so bad for the medium.
Healos, I really, really dig that archer.
There are a ton of weird little things about it that add up in the very best way.
Seriously awesome drawing. Also-- the Tau rock.Last edited by Bearofbadnews; 2007-04-24 at 09:44 AM.

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
@Healos - thanks! Nice works - such incredible attention to detail. I agree with Bearofbadnews - the archer is cool - do I ever want me a suit of that armour!
@OldOne, @Dr. Bath and @Bearofbadnews - thanks for the nice comments and the crits. Before I posted that original pick I'd actually *had* thinned V's neck but it looked funny, so I thickened it up again. Here's a version that's partway between what'd I'd originally done and the version I posted... a bit thinner but not too much. Let me know what you guys think.
@Bearofbadnews - not sure what I can do about V's head and face not clicking with you but hopefully the new version is a bit better!
@Hyikim ... ah, good. My job is complete. ^_^
@Midnight son - Thanks!
@Dispozition - I actually like the colour around Anju's right eye in your picture... if it was on both, it'd give Anju a sort of colourful/robust look.
Here's the new, thinner-necked-V:
Also, here's a preview of Durkon. Lots of work to do on him still. He looks a bit meaner than I usually imagine him, but in this situation he's going to be dishing it out to a hobgoblin so he should look mean.
Thanks for you comments and suggestions!
Cheers,
D

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Daleicious! That Durkon is really great! I agree he look meaner (a lot) then I imagine him too, but like you said, he's kicking goblin asses right there! Very good, really good expressionate face!
Hmm... I just though of something... can I "borrow" V's face picture and change a thing and show you? Easier then trying to explain what I mean? About the neck thing!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
Hey all. I'm having some trouble with my picture and I need some advice.
I don't know what to make the background like, and I'm unsure of how to color the head-dress. Please Halp!

Re: Arts and Crafts Showcase
On the top picture? Why not make it black? Make it look like a scalemail headdress in black! That'd be neat! Black's always a good colour and fits with the rest fine!
Here's a new pic I'm working on (just a closeup, not the whole pic). Tell me what you think. It's made (beeing made) in Photoshop CS2... It's not in my usual style, I normally goes for more detailed but I kind a like it! (So far anyway!)
