[3.5] Mer-folkish?
I have a friend who had a question for me tonight that I could not answer. I don't know the exact details of WHY he (or, more specifically, his DM) needs this, but I figured I'd ask on here and see if you guys could help out.
He's looking for something with a +3 level adjustment that is somewhat mer-folkish but is still useful on the land. (He said "Think the movie Splash but she can control it) I suggested some sort of lycanthropy, but he said his DM said no.
It can be a combination of things (such as a +1 race, +2 template...or whatever). Any ideas out there?

Re: [3.5] Mer-folkish?
There are various Aquatic or Watery races HERE and HERE, and Races of Destiny has Seakin, a humanoid race that are basically merfolk. Throw on a good +2 template and you're all set! You'll probably want Stormwrack, too, especially since I think it has a spell to let water-breathers breathe air (like a reverse water breathing).

Not sure how helpful this will be, but it's something to consider: Darfellan. Yeah it's a LA 0 race... but that just means you can add +3 worth of templates to it, and let this take care of the aquatic part.
What's the LA on an anthropomorphic whale, otherwise?

Were-anything fishy, natural lycan is cheap and easy to do.
Aventi are more "aqua-Marina" than merfolk, but pretty close. Good if you want amphibious rather than fully aquatic (so breathes both fully and doesn't have to keep returning to sea the way Aquatic Elves do)

The Warcraft RPG Manual of Monsters has a +2 LA Naga race.

I'd check stormwrack. Or Sea Kin in Races of Destiny.
I take this game with the seriousness it deserves.
Not all that much. It's a game.

Is it just me, or are Sea Kin (RoD) and Aventi (Sw) just too similar?
For that matter, aren't they both just basically Aquatic Humans? My winning competition entries: Kinvig Arrumskor | The Great Pumpkinhead | Wynfrith d'Acker
