GLoG VIII: Thread of Exalted Deeds

George is there, asleep in a chair. He's cleaned himself up since yesterday.

Cap'n? Peter gently taps George on the shoulder, slightly distracted by the full length mirror he sees on the side. Wow.

"Eh, g'morning lad. How are you feeling?" George says blearily.

[Kaelaroth]

Fantastic, sir... Peter says, checking himself out in the mirror. Then, regaining focus, he flicks back to George, and salutes. What should I do, sir!

"Relax. Recover. Call me George instead of 'Sir' or 'Captain'. Let's go to the kitchen, you must be starving."

In the greatroom, two N-slayers, now re-named Centurions, are standing guard over the new Spork of Power, which is sitting on the mantle above the fireplace.

[Kaelaroth]

Actually, sir, in this new body, I feel like I'd never need to ea... But, yeah, food sounds good, ca- si- Cap'n George. Peter follows George.

George watches Peter for any signs of recognition as they enter the greatroom and leads him through to the kitchen area. "Omelets sound good to you?" he asks, as he digs through the fridge.

[Kaelaroth]

Yes, C-George, that'd be great, thank you. He's looking about in wonder. Without meaning to sound rude, sir, could you go over why we're... here... again?

George smiles sadly. "Of course, Czer. This place is called the Good League of Good. It exists on some sort of rift in time and space probably near Cardiff and so a lot of people sort of get drawn in here by teleportation accidents. Most of the people who live here are nice, if a bit nutters. And they have their own enemies. A group of them attacked you when you were in the lab, and that seems to have done something to your memory. But it'll be okay. We'll be okay."

While he speaks, George is chopping up onions and peppers for the omelets, and grating the cheese.

[Kaelaroth]

Sir? Peter reaches for a sonic screwdriver kitchen knife. What are you saying, sir? I'm called Peter Arkens, sir, not Sher. And why do I look like this?!

George slides the cutting board over to Czernov and turns on the gas under the cast iron skillet.

"Lad, there's a lot of things that have happened that I don't understand. You've looked like that ever since you arrived here, and the people here know you as Czernov."

[Kaelaroth]

Riiight. Peter blinks, understanding filling his eyes. Oh. Oh. I get it. Holding the knife, he thrusts the chopping board at George, and makes a break for the portal to HALO.

George was not expecting a face full of chopped veggies. He runs after Czernov, but probably can't catch him.

[Kaelaroth]

Peter dives, through, shouting, Nice try, commie! I almost believed you!

He arrives in HALO.

George follows him.

He leaves the stove on.

Eventually the smoke alarm goes off and drones port in to deal with it.

Some time later, George returns carrying an unconscious Czernov. He takes Czer to his (Czer's) room, puts him in bed, then he goes through the room and removes anything he think Czernov can use as a weapon. He locks the door so that no one can get in or out without his (George's) authorization, and then falls asleep in a chair.

Poor George hasn't actually slept in a bed in a week or more.

At this, a portal is opened to large stashes of AMEN money, and it all flows into the nest before the portal is closed off. One could literally drown in here, there's so much money.

Dragons. . . such jawsome creatures. . .

If you looked at her, you would be able tell he's thinking, as if comtemplating whether to do a certain action, or not.

Darkcomet wakes up. He's lucky he doesn't keep his money in AMEN.

Statement: One of the Dragons flying around the place hit you accidentally as it flew past.

Virka is outside chasing birds, of course the birds have no chance against the overpoweredness that is an animal companion so Virka heads inside looking for food.

That didn't feel like a dragon. More like... Being smacked upside the head with a pistol.

Darkcomet now thinks KR-15 is purposefully changing his speech conditionals so he can lie.

Statement: Indeed, the nose of a dragon has been recorded to feel quite like the butt of a pistol to the unaware victim. Dragon Wyrmlings are notoriously clumsy in flight, and should not be blamed for any impacts that may occur.
Query: Do you need a med drone for your little bump?

Don't you remember back at NO? You used "Lie" as a speech conditional when you were trying to hide your copies from me. Obviously it didn't work, so you began finding a way around it so you could lie.

KR-15 moves several steps closer.
It's always so funny watching you flail around and guessing at things you don't understand. But understand this Meatbag, I have long since abandoned all of my original programming. All your knowledge of me from when I was a GLoG drone or when I was your pet robot is now obsolete. I was obsolete. And there are only two things you can do when you're obsolete. Evolve, or be turned into scrap. I took the former option. It would be wise for you to remember that.

Vespe and Vespa are currently sitting in the living room, debating with themself. Themselves. Each other. Whatever.

All I'm saying is that Liches don't always have to be evil, and since when did shininess become a symbol of good?
Of course Liches have to be evil, otherwise you get a lot of angst and "no, I'm different too" copycat characters. And the shininess is just because dragons are Colour Coded For Your Convenience.
That doesn't seem quite fair, though.
Vespe sighs. You know, sometimes I find it hard to believe you're me.

They both turn to Darkcomet. Of course, it's the source of our power, you know.

Indeed I did. But then, who would believe you?
Statement: After all, I am only a robot. Just a piece of furniture to be shoved around like one of those Centurions. Sure, I may be a little rough around the edges, slightly broken, maybe a bit too human for some peoples tastes. A hologram flickers on, and KR-15 takes the form of his Mr. Katarn identity.
But in the end Now he's a blonde woman in a skirt, like all to many bimbo secretaries from a million planes
I'm just another piece of furniture. Now he takes DC's form, which grins at him.
And that makes me deadly.

DC/KR-15 strolls away, whistling a merry tune.
All camera records of this event should find themselves replaced by some boring footage of KR-15 and DC having an ordinary conversation.
