Help porting a character concept (Malazan).
So, for a PbP I'm trying to enter, I'm getting a distinct Malazan Book of the Fallen vibe. Human empire seeks to take over world, etc. Anyways, because I'm getting such strong vibes, I thought it might be fun to base my character concept on one of the characters. The two I have in mind as possibilities are Cotillion (The Rope, Patron God of Assassins, former bodyguard to the emperor), and Kellanved (Ammanas, Shadowthrone). If you don't know anything on the characters, here's some links that may help:
Cotillion:

Kellanved:

The campaign is gestalt. Character should be human. Beyond that, the main distinguishing features of each are both are heavily related to shadow as a concept. Cotillion is an assassin type character, who is often depicted as materializing out of the shadows. His weapon of choice is a rope, although I don't know how well that translates.
Ammanas/Kellanved's main distuingishing features are his propensity of scheme, and his control of the Hounds of Shadow.
I don't have many ideas beyond that. Any help would be awesome, thanks!Last edited by Whiplord; 2008-10-20 at 09:23 PM.

Re: Help porting a character concept (Malazan).
This might be one of the few times the Shadow Magic section in ToM comes in handy.
Unfortunately, Malazan Shadow Dancers only bear a passing resemblance to D20 shadowdancers. Now here's my two cents. To get a good feel for his abilities, I'd go Rogue/Child of the Night//Shadowcaster/Warlock with maybe a dip in Shadow dancer or assassin on one side. Maybe not wholely optimal, but a pretty snazzy array of shadow related abilities and the ability to be absurdly lethal. warlock isn't completely necessary and could be sub-ed out for any other class you'd like. Bard would net you access to shadow/darkness spells to enter child of the night without taking any levels in shadow caster, reflavor snowflake wardance as a shadow dance,
Ammanas would pretty much be a Wizard//Shadowcaster

Re: Help porting a character concept (Malazan).
tome of magic.
The skinny on the class.
It grants you 9/10 spellcasting or mystery progression, bonuses to hide checks. you eventually gain a continuous blur effect, and by tenth level can 2/day use displacement as a swift action for 10 rounds. cold resistance capping out at 15 and will slowly lose the need to eat/sleep/breathe, you can also become incorporeal for a minute per day as part of your 10th level capstone.
