Fan, when Harbinger Epoch arrived, you were not online. Draken asked me what the defences were, and I said 'Um, I don't know. Let's say Prot vs Evil and an alignment detector'. So he used Nondetection to get past it. He didn't ignore it. Repeat: Draken Did Not Ignore GLoG Defences!

Since Epoch has been in the base, he's done three things:

1. Stop Turtle from praying. For a little while.
2. Stop Susan from delivering the message from Dipsnig.
3. Steal the note Turtle left on the fridge.

Do you really consider this game-breaking in any way?

Okay, I'm resurrecting this thread so we can decide ONCE AND FOR ALL what defences the base has.

Fan has proposed this:

1. True seeing on a arcane eye device. (SUPER CAM!) this detects magic auras (without the overwhelm.), and does the basic true seeing effects.
No. Interferes with illusionist villains too much.

2. A divintation effect 2 days ahead of the current security feed that is recorded on seprate tapes. This also has a true seeing effect present.

3. A 2ft lead lining in between the walls. Preventing horrible strcutural damage (Ie. go through the lead in addition to the walls.), raditiaon prevention, and also prevents scry's INTO the base, but not if the scryer is already within the base.

4. A mordinkaidens private sanctum effect on all the rooms within GLoG.
Change 'all' to 'member's quarters' then sure.


5. A Prismatic wall effect for anybody who fails the above scans.
No, since only magic using villains can bypass it.


6. A X-ray scan on everyone who goes through. (non radioactive.)

7. Protection from evil on the entire base.
Yes


8. A replusion effect on any EVIL creature who does not speak the pass word: I shall do no harm.

KR-15 walks into the visitors center. All people/cat/demigods/robots in a one mile radius must make a DC 100 will save or be awed.
Happy Turtle walks into the visitor's center in awe.
Greeting: Hello, can I come into the base so I can brutally murder you all and dance on your corpses?

Fan would change it every week, PMing every member to let them know. Of course, some of our members are also the villains, so the villains may gain some "insight".

Even though the voting is still open, I'm going to start trying to better describe the defences that look likely to be chosen:

Okay, I'm one of the two people who voted against this one, so I just have questions rather than answers. Would this include interior walls as well as exterior? What about doors and windows? Doesn't a two foot thick wall keep a lot of sunlight out?

Whatever else is decided, Turtle's conservatory will not be lead lined. Might make it hard for plants to grow when the LIFE GIVING RADIATION OF THE SUN can't get through.

This one is close, so why don't the pro X-ray voters try and explain exactly what the X-rays do? Because I have no idea what is the point. Sure, it will detect weapons, but considering that our most dangerous enemies don't need weapons, how much help is it? Are we trying to make the place feel like an airport?

If you want them, then try and sell the idea. It might sway the voting.

I will attempt to translate from D&Dese into Freeform-speak

"This spell wards a creature from attacks by evil creatures, from mental control, and from summoned creatures. *snip crunchy stuff*"

For roleplay purposes, this means that when you're in the base, you should be able to defend yourself better against attacks than when you're elsewhere.

Example: Melody is at the Taverna when Alek telepathically commands her to quack like a duck. Melody quivers in exertion as she tries to resist the command, but a loud QUACK escapes her.

vs.

Melody is in the greatroom when Alek telepathically commands her to quack like a duck. Melody scrunches up her face in exertion for a moment, but is able to resist the order.

Just what it says on the tin. You can teleport into the garden or elsewhere outside the house, but you can't teleport into the building unless you've been added to the approved list.

When you come through the official portals, or through the front door, your alignment will flash over the door frame. The drones can also read alignment.

This doesn't mean that anything attacks you if you are evil. It just means that if you want to conceal your alignment, you have to work at it.

Hallow makes a particular site, building, or structure a holy site. This has four major effects.

First, the site or structure is guarded by a magic circle against evil effect.

Second, all Charisma checks made to turn undead gain a +4 sacred bonus, and Charisma checks to command undead take a -4 penalty. Spell resistance does not apply to this effect. (This provision does not apply to the druid version of the spell.)

Third, any dead body interred in a hallowed site cannot be turned into an undead creature.

Finally, you may choose to fix a single spell effect to the hallowed site. Yeah. The D&D anti magic field spell said that there it's nearly impossible to break. But Freeform rules say that the defender gets to decide how something affects them. So basically, this is down to how you want to play the scene. If someone wants to try to block magic from working, then your wizard might be completely helpless. Or it might take him much longer than usual to cast the spell. Or his spells might be significantly weakened. But if anyone tries to use the D&D version, they shall be sent to time out with no pudding.

A sanctuary is a personal protective effect. While it is active, it prevents a creature from being attacked by other creatures. However, the sanctuary drops if the protected being attacks another being.

In D&D terms, a sanctuary allows a will save. The attacker may, with a strong enough force of will, pierce the protection. Greater Sanctuary merely doesn't give this chance. The shield does not drop until the spell's duration expires, or the warded creature attacks.

Meaning so logn as your non violent you dont get hurt, but if someone attacks you.. well they CAN be hurt, but whoever attacks them can also be hurt.

Hallow doesn't do damage. It is an entirelly protective effect, not offensive. The 'disadvantage' undead suffer inside Hallow is mrely that their Spawn ability does not work. Also, turning them becomes easier, but this requires, first, that an actual cleric tries to turn the undead. Rebuking them, on the other hand, becomes harder, which means the undead get a modicum of safety against having their will striped from them by an evil cleric.

And yes. Greater Sanctuary can be dispelled.

And yes, these people wouldn't be able to attack, well, they would, but their attacks would be stopped and their protection would drop. It is possible to perform other, potentialy hostile actions, however. I have to go check sanctuary again.
