Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
I think originalism is pretty silly.
Then again, the Dutch were the first to recognize the USA as a separate, independent country.
Which is not amazing due to two reasons:
1. We disliked Colonystealingland quite a bit back then, allies against Colonystealingland were quite welcome.
2. The USA's founding wasn't that different from the founding of the Netherlands, which only serves to create a common bond, strengthening the alliance.
The good relationships between the USA and the Netherlands might explain why the USA background note about the Netherlands is so positive.٩๏̯͡๏)۶

Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
I always found the Dutch to be so unique in European cultures. The Dutch did have a large impact on early American colonization (New Amsterdam/New York, anyone?)
And, really Ina, I always found the few Dutch that I actually met to be very fun people to know! How I would love to visit your country!

Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
The Netherlands is fairly schizophrenic; same with Holland. But not Belguim. Belguim if very flat, smells of cow dung and nearly every shop sells 'baccy, booze or choccy. Or all three.
And a surprising numer of shops are named after British soaps and places in them.
I was happy when we saw a hill. The countryside is that dull. It was a big hill though, quite prolly artificial though.
Currently I'm eating stawberry flavoured sweets and very happy. I love and adore strawberry flavoured sweeties even though I'm actually allergic to them.

A lot of places in the US are also named from (often) anglicanized Indian words.
Milwaukee, Oklahoma, Chicago, Alaska, Alabama, the list goes on.
Here is a short list of some other prominant locations in the USA that is named from Indian words.

In Washington State there is a delightful number of interesting Indian-named cities, from Walla Walla to Puyallup (pronounced "Pyew-AL-up") to Seattle to Yakima/Yakama, Wapato, Kamiakin, etc., etc.
In contrast, Oregon (also an Indian name of unknown origin) has almost no tribally named places, particularly on the west side. This is because traders sailed up from South America carrying malaria and wiped out 100% of the coastal tribes. Pretty unbelievable.

Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
We could totally take it back if we wanted to.
...there needs to a rolly eyes smilie. But there's no moving ones on the forum.
EDIT:
Yeah, and just to annoy you lot, the Dutch were the first to recognize the USA's sovereignty.
Of course, that we were in a state of war with you makes all allies welcome, and a region that declares itself independent from your enemy is a potential ally anyway.

Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
Naturally; as the Unofficial Secret Dispenser of the Eggy Division of the British Empire I can tell the whole world that only Britland is real and that the rest of the universe is actually a figment of the collective imagination, boredom and insanity of the Britishers.
Logically this also means that the sun only exists because we Britishers want it to.
But taking into account Britlands' climate we must want it to rain here so that we can travel to a part of the Fictional World to experience The Sun for a change.
And we clearly can't like it that much as we book a holiday for a fortnight and then say that we should have come home after ten days.
Actually, we must be pretty poor world creators if you think about it. I guess you imaginary folks out there in the imaginary world of the imaginary world can blame britishers for everything happening in your imaginary countries.
"'Eyup; who's been spilling the beans to the world?"
Oh smeg.

Squid bones are fictional! They do not exist.
They have never existed.
And they never will exist.
They may not exist. They are not permitted to exist and will be not allowed to exist.
Ever.
Seriously.

Re: Dish's Delightfully Deranged and Deliciously Deliquent Random Banter # 106
Way back when I was a little pixie Zar Peter either stabbed me or tried to stab someone else with squid bones (which don't exist) and I told him they didn't exist. He insists they do despite overwhelming evidence they don't.
So now we fight over it. Our sigs say so.
P.S. squid bones don't exist.

Ah.
Also, I agree with you, Koorly. Squid are crustaceans. Ergo, no internal skeleton. Ergo, no bones.
I believe that cuttlefish have cartelidge, though.Homebrew

We have heard it said by others that squid bones exist, but are acttually special muscles.
We also support Curly in her denial of squid bones.
This talking in 1st3rdperson plural for clone week confuses us.
