Weirdest RPG ever?
What is the most unusual, out of the way, or simply downright bizzare tabletop RPG you have ever encountered? I've seen Pokethulu, Maid, and Monsters and Other Childish Things; I want something that makes them look tame by comparison...anyone have a story to tell about something completely outlandish they've seen/heard of/PLAYED?

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
Correct, FATAL is not weird in the slightest. It's not bizzare, just disgusting.
KamB is a good one, I had forgotten....links would be nice if possible, to the advertisement sites if not the actual rules.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
My vote goes out to paranoia, the only game in which if you feel like things are making sense something is very, very wrong.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
Okay, I'm going with an RPG I downloaded for free during RPG Now's "Thankgiveaway" Week last year. I've told some people about this and they didn't believe it, so here's the screencap and a bit from the introduction.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
For me, it would be the Crawl Of Cathulu section of the Toon Adventures book. It was Call of Cthulu mixed with Looney Tunes. The devastating forces you came up against could drive you Sane, leaving you unable to handle the wackiness of the setting.

Shattered Dreams for an oddball horror RPG.
Wingnut games is your source for really messed up games. From Battle Cattle, a tabletop miniatures game, to Og: The Roleplaying Game, to Solid!, a d20 blaxploitation RPG.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
Does anyone know the name of the cartoon that image came from? I swear I saw some R rated cartoon about vicious human killing bunny rabbits when I was like 6 or 7. You know, back in the "good old days" of the early 80's when cartoons exposed impressionable young minds to all kinds of new and interesting ideas. There's a good chance it's been banned, burned, and buried, 'cause it was DARK.
I used to live in a world of terrible beauty, and then the beauty left.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
there was one indie game I saw where you don't play characters, you play aspects of this one little girl's personality. That's right, you're playing parts of Haley's psyche slowly being shattered because of her inability to tell secrets.
another game I saw could basically only support two people, and the way that it works is that there is no script, no dice, only narrative building. the two players each take turns adding more to the story one sentence at a time through their character. It's interesting, but man it's weird.
I also once played an RPG that made use of CD players for narrative devices. that is an odd one too.Last edited by elliott20; 2008-11-18 at 01:35 AM.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
That is the insane thing about it.
About a month ago I saw it on amazon, with a cover and everything saying you can preorder it (I stupidly didn't hoping my local store could get it). Then, like two weeks ago I checked up on it again, but this time it seemed you could no longer preorder it, and I believe it had said something about signing up to see when it would be available. Now I just went back to Amazon to get you a link, but it's gone.
It was called something on the lines of More Things to Kill and Eat! I believe the title was from an older edition book of Kamb, so I figured it was an updated version.
Anyone know about this? Did they cancel this product?!Projects I am working on:

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
The oddest one I've actually played is It was a Mutual Decision, a game about a breakup -- with wererats. A lot of the Jeep Form stuff seems even stranger to me but I've never tried it first hand.

Re: Weirdest RPG ever?
Hmm. I remember that we had a really weird game with a really old edition of Gamma World once. One player was an octopus shooting lightning, the other one a telekinetic wolf with the power to know what happened to every object int the past 200 years if he touched it. Our main enemy was a sentient space station.

Someone needs to make a "The Adventures of Dr McNinja" RPG.
