[3.5] Most adaptable party?
Just wondering what people's opinion would be for the most adaptable 4 man party i.e. a party which could change it's focus to meet a particular challenge?
I'd put forth the following:
* Facotum
* Binder
* Rogue/Chameleon
* Bard/Master of Masks
...probably not optimal, though...My winning competition entries: Kinvig Arrumskor | The Great Pumpkinhead | Wynfrith d'Acker

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
I'd say Archivist, Druid, Wizard and Beguiller due to how much magic you'd have access to (the Animal Companion could compensate for a lack of frontline power).

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
My current character is extremely versatile. He's a rogue 3 / archivist 9. I took Able Learner and kept Open Lock, Disable Device and UMD maxed out. He can do all of those things as well as a 12th level rogue, with 5th level spells as a bonus.
Next time we get an opportunity to play, I plan to get a cold iron weapon with the Sacred enhancement, Gauntlets of Weaponry Arcane, and a Ring of Adamantine Touch. DR mostly won't be a problem, then.
The other charecters in the party are a Barbarian, a Warmage and a Swashbuckler/Champion of Corellon. Honestly, I think my guy and the barbarian could do pretty well in most circumstances.

Give them bread and circusses and the plebs wont rise against you. Give adventurers dungeons and trapped chests and they won't waste time looking to ransack your home and kill your wife.

Beguiler10/Rainbow Servant10
Warlock12/Chameleon8
Wizard3/Druid3/Arcane Hierophant10/Mystic Theurge4
Factotum 20
You can make any item, pass any skill check, cast any spell, and defeat any monster that gets in your way.
I can't think of a single situation that a party like this couldn't solve.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
Druid, druid, druid, druid (honestly) you can try 4x cleric too.
Druids pwns all
Duskblades and Psionic Warriors come right after.
And, paladins, well they suck. In order to be a paladin, you must be Lawful good and stupid.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
my friend hombrewd a class that is extreamly flexible called a "combatant" at first level a combatant , a barbarian , a bard and a fighter took out a nest of mind flayers. The fact that repeating c-bows where like the one in van helsing (with removable clips) didn't hurt.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
Hmm. Beguiler, wizard/anima mage, wizard, cloistered cleric, would be my bet. Poor on melee until later levels though.
Me: I'd get the paladin to help, but we might end up with a kid that believes in fairy tales.
DM: aye, and it's not like she's been saved by a mysterious little girl and a band of real live puppets from a bad man and worse step-sister to go live with the faries in the happy land.
Me: Yeah, a knight in shining armour might just bring her over the edge.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
Well see, Cindy is the child of a fling her father had. When her mother showed up and dropped her off he got annoyed and decided that taking care of her was too much trouble. So he just cast Mind Rape on her and crammed her full of about a thousand years worth of arcane knowledge and memories. He has the exact same build as Cindy except he's level 30 and has epic spell casting.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
I think the most adaptable/resilient 4 person party would probably be best if you had two characters that act as fixed points and two as floating points.
Fixed points:
1. either a druid or a cleric
2. An arcane caster (preferred) or an Invoker
Floating points:
3. A binder or Incarnum wielder
4. Bard or RogueLast edited by mabriss lethe; 2008-11-19 at 12:47 AM.

Cleric (necromancy specialist)
Cleric (healbot/tank)
Cleric (buffbot/tank)
Druid (wildshape or summoning specialist)I just published my first novella, Lúnasa Days, a modern fantasy with a subtle, uncertain magic.
You can grab it on Kindle or paperback.

Re: [3.5] Most adaptable party?
Well without using anything too cheesy, I would say:
Factotum
Wizard
Druid
Cleric
