While I like the Beatles, I don't have any of their albums. I should get some.

Oh, and because there's a new page, here's the CSI ship cast list. Can probably fit one or two more people in, but if there's no other takers, I'm running with this:

    The Team:
    TwoBit: Gil Grissom
    Mordokai: Nick Stokes
    Reinholdt: Warrick Brown
    Deathslayer: Catherine Willows
    Slayer Draco: Sara Sidle
Saint Nil: Greg Sanders (DNA tech)

    The Case Cast:
    Vespe: Victim
    Lex: Victim's lover
    Happy: Hooker. Potential witness.
    Cristo Meyers: Lawyer. Obnoxious twit.

Destro, I'm not much of a CSI fan, but feel free to throw me in if you want.

    Of course!

You like what you like, who am I to say otherwise?

And, for the record, Ono was coincidental. I just liked "I'm losing you."

    On the turning away
    From the pale and downtrodden

Metal servos whirred near silently as the cyborg walked out of the alley, leaving behind the crumpled up pile of clothing and sniffles that was the once proud necromancer.

    And the words they say
    Which we won't understand

Love. There was no room in his platinum-efficent augmented mental system for such a folly. No room for reminders of the weak biological imperatives. They were ... inefficent. Cold, clean hatred was so much easier to account for. Better a quick break now. He paused. Why was he trying to convince himself?

    "Don't accept that what's happening
Is just a case of others' suffering
Or you'll find that you're joining in
    The turning away"

Shearing pain. Left rotator joint was penetrated and leaking synthetic lubricant. Temperature flux within parameters for ice knife. Damage consequential but insignificant to gross functionality. He continued to walk away, tiny rivulets of rainbow-hued liquid spattering occasionally to the hard cobbles.

    It's a sin that somehow
    Light is changing to shadow
    And casting it's shroud
    Over all we have known

And her affection turned to bitter ice that burned her skin, that puckered and chilled her heart once more into a mass that could feel only pain. Turn his back on her, would he?

Unaware how the ranks have grown
Driven on by a heart of stone
We could find that we're all alone
In the dream of the proud

She began to chant softly, soft tears of upset replaced by hot sizzling salty ones that etched her skin in their passage downward. She called to the necropolis ... and the bodies answered; crawling out of the ground, moving toward the slowly retreating Maggums ... no. She corrected herself. Magtok. Lord Magtok. Soon to be fresh from the vats, too, if she had anything to do with it. They moved in, surrounding him. Gouts of flame flared; the smell of ozone and cooked dead flesh wafted outward on the night air - but there were too many. The last she saw of him was the glint of torchlight off metal before it, too, was submerged into the mass of heaving animate flesh and was gone.

On the wings of the night
    As the daytime is stirring
    Where the speechless unite
    In a silent accord

She walked away... and kept walking as night's dark dominion of the sky was slowly supplanted, first by cold gray pre-dawn, and after, more slowly, by the first too-bright rays of sunlight. The zombies, having no other instruction, quietly shuffled after their domitor.

Home then, such as it was. The new zombies were put to order, then she permitted herself the luxury of sleep, letting the day-cycle pass toward evening.

Using words you will find are strange
And mesmerised as they light the flame

She saw him again the next night. Saw the odd glances he regarded her with. It was ever thus; a new clone, no matter how successful the transference, took some time to re-adjust. She hated that part, but could not bring herself to keep away. This, too, angered her, this apparent weakness that she faced every time she met him anew. He stared at her like he always stared at her, and she looked back like she always did.

Feel the new wind of change
On the wings of the night

And he reached out, as he always did; she started to turn, as she always did. And then the servos in his mechanical hand grasped her shoulderbones and ground them together - and this was exciting and new, and also, she had to admit, nauseatingly painful.

And his voice, the same voice, mechanical, even-tempoed, began to recite.

    "No more turning away
From the weak and the weary
    No more turning away
    From the coldness inside,
    "

The servo arm twisted, and the pain intensified as bone scraped against bone, an exquisite symphony of pain played through the couriers of her nerves. She screamed at the last, unable to channel it away, unable to clamp down on the raw ragged sensation that his touch evoked.

And his voice, modulated, even, resumed.

"Just a world that we all must share
It's not enough just to stand and stare
Is it only a dream that there'll be
    No more turning away,
" he concluded, tossing her twitching, wracked body to the street.

He walked past her. Through the haze of pain from the dislocated and partially crushed bones, she could barely hear him utter one more line.

    "Same time, next week."

Helgraf supplies another fic worthy of his reputation.

However, when I consider a Magtok songfic, I always think of JoCo's 'The Future Soon' for some reason.

What? Yes, of course I've considered Magtok songfics before. Why do you ask?

There's a bit something wrong with all of us, I suspect.

Helgraf, once again you have thoroughly impressed me. I am also filled with rage that my years in college would have been better spent on my original major in Microbiology, as a Professional Writing degree means nothing when my work is compared to yours!

Slayer: LOVE that my version of Rachel is bad-ass. Kudos.
Destro: laughed my butt off. No, really, there it is, on the floor under the desk.
Raist: Why'd I have to be Ringo? Sure, he has the coolest name, but he's the skeezy jerk everyone hates! And now he won't autograph stuff anymore and told his fans to kiss off? Pffft.
    ...well, at least I'm included.

    Hoping to write something today.

Oh, and because there's a new page, here's the CSI ship cast list. Can probably fit one or two more people in, but if there's no other takers, I'm running with this:

    The Team:
    TwoBit: Gil Grissom
    Mordokai: Nick Stokes
    Reinholdt: Warrick Brown
    Deathslayer: Catherine Willows
    Slayer Draco: Sara Sidle
Saint Nil: Greg Sanders (DNA tech)

    The Case Cast:
    Vespe: Victim
    Lex: Victim's lover
    Happy: Hooker. Potential witness.
    Cristo Meyers: Lawyer. Obnoxious twit.
    Meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Great fics guys, haven't had the time lately to read 'em all though.

    "Greetings, traveler. You are wel-"
"Yes, I know the routine, woman. I am not here for you or your useless chatter. Now, kindly fetch me an ale and direct me to the most private area of your common room."

A bit taken aback, Busty B did as she was asked, leering sideways at the somewhat gaunt man who commanded her as if she were a mere servant. Still, the air of danger that seemed to emanate from him made her bite her tongue.

TwoBit sat in his usual spot at the end of the bar, looking a bit like an owl, his eyes wide as he tried to see everything. He then ducked his head low to scribble notes. B smiled. The bard, Mi'ir, was by the fireplace, singing. The three serving girls crowded around him, nudging each other and jostling for the position closest to him. Clearly he enjoyed it, wearing a fixed grin as he played.

The newcomer watched all this, his back slightly hunched as if he bore some heavy, invisible load on his shoulders. Yet he wore a faint smile on his lips, as if he shared some secret joke with the universe. Suddenly, a wracking cough shook his frame, the smile wiped from his face, his eyes squinted shut.

B sighed and grabbed a few things from behind the bar before she approached. "Here, sir. This will help ease the cough, and also mute the volume of it a bit." She pressed a warm, steamed towel into his hand. Then, she pointed to a far corner of the room, somewhat hidden from the door, but with an unobstructed view of the room. "And there you can get some privacy. Now go sit, and I'll bring you your ale...and some soup."

Looking a bit surprised, the man nodded briefly, gratefully. "I underestimated you, madam. My apologies. I am Ghost Warlock."

B smiled and waved him away. "Hush now. There's time enough for that after you've had something to drink. Go on now, sit."

Ghost obediently took his towel and went to where she had directed, a bemused smile on his face. He wore it still when B, herself, delivered his food. How quickly she turned the tables on me and took control. Interesting. As B passed by TwoBit, she gave his shoulder a squeeze. She leaned over to whisper something in his ear that left his cheeks blazing with blush, then turned and sauntered away. Ghost raised an eyebrow. How unexpected. Brava, Madam B - twice now you've surprised me.

    Alone he sat, watching, waiting...

Hope I did ya justice, buddy.

I love it, Dirk, love it. And you did a great job portraying me...other than the teetotaler thing and I'm much more likely to sneeze than cough. But, meh, if I'm willing to be g/b'd or turned into a zombie/omnicidal maniac for a fic, what's a little alcohol going to hurt? Also, I think I'm going to have quite a lot of fun tormenting Twobi and Cristo during my stay.

ION: Okay, so I went in to work this morning for some re-certification classes and, there in the training room, are four ~5-foot-tall wooden cutouts of the stylized/animated drawings of the Beatles from the Yellow Submarine vid. Evidently, they were used for some fundraiser thing.

I have made it official in the permission thread.
Anyone after this who writes a Turtle/Rabbit fic will be reported.
And now for some lighter fic review

Helgraf: I always have trouble picturing Maggy in a darker existence. Even so, wonderfully creepy ship. As always, you're amazing, and it fits my tastes perfectly.
Dirk: First off, Ringo is my favorite. He was the ONLY one who didn't for certain cheat on his wives...though his first one cheated on him with George. He's the most down to earth Beatle, and...jeez, he's getting old. How long can he be expected to keep up with the rockstar life? I don't begrudge him his decision not to accept fanmail anymore.
    Peace and love <3
Busty B's is pretty lulzy, as always. Glad to see you're not gone yet.

I thought so too. However, Rabbit has asked me to remove it (), so you should probably remove the quoted version as well.

    Question:
does this only apply to romance?

Because (with luck) the next Definition drabble will involve Turtle and RHL as related in a way I won't say and a heck of a lot of venomous words and actions.
Just want to clear it now just in case.
