Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
Heh heh. This should be good. Let's hope Haley does get the chance to finish her off.
I love the title too - very helpful.Last edited by Lira; 2008-12-13 at 06:45 PM.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
I likeBelkar's new tact.
Even though I have a feeling it's going to come around and bite him in the arse even moreso than being an outright psychopath did.
Cheers, Rich.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
He's seriouse about this fake growth...
On the other hand, doesn't this make Belkar higher level than Haley? By a lot? Crystal gets to be Haleys level by virtue of Nemisis/Rival, and Bozzak was high enough to sneak attack Haley, but neither of them could even HIT Belkar, even when flanking. In a one on one between Belkar and Crystal, he downplayes her to the point of saying(And getting away with) 'I might beleive you if you'd said "I'm going to temporarily inconvenience you"'(Paraphrased). If she was Haleys level, then Belkar is...?

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
Great comic, the punchline was the best part. Belkar handing over foes to their mortal enemies is just far to fun to watch.
You just lost the game. I lost too but at least I took someone down with me.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
Hmm...lying in a pool of blood and at 0hp and still talking smack...would be a shame if Haley did kill her...
It was a dark and stormy night, except when the lightning flashed, because then it wasn't dark; it sort of turned the windows into a giant disco ball for a moment, but eventually the thunder and lightning stopped and it settled down to a steady light rain, so then it really was dark, but it would probably be a stretch to call it stormy.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
No, it's just that Belkar is a really seasoned warrior, and Haley is just a warrior PLUS overgrown pickpocket. Rogues are good at other things besides combat, so a rogue of level 15 is worse in combat than a ranger / barbarian(? People say he took a level, but all I ever saw was him considering it) at level 15.
There is a certain type of signature, which goes somewhat along the lines of "98% of people do X... if you're one of the 2% that don't, put this in your signature". That statistic is almost always completely made up, and often innaccurate. Personally, I think this type of signature is ridiculously stupid.
98% of forum users have signatures like that. If you're one of the 2% who don't, put this in your signature.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
A seasoned warrior instead of a glorified pickpocket.
The mistake you're making is thinking that two different classes are equal in melee combat at the same level. They're not; a rogue is strictly inferior to any warrior class, especially when they don't have surprise or a flanker. A ranger/barbarian should demolish a rogue of equal level in straight-up one-on-one melee combat, no questions asked. And that's exactly what happens here.Last edited by SPoD; 2008-12-13 at 06:56 PM.

Beautiful.
I'm sooo glad that belkar is back - definitely keeps the strip interesting by preventing it from degenerating into a morality play.Aren't all of us "not-nale"?

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
Wow. Belkar just DEMOLISHED her. Let's see. Crystal moves up and whiffs, then there's what looks like a Full Attack from Belkar, then a Trip, and BOOM, the follow-up attack downs her. That's, what, 1 round?
DOMINATED.

Re: OOTS #616 - The Discussion Thread
Man, Belkar faking being a team-player is actually meaner than Belkar being a mindless sociopath. Yeouch!
Still, his new penchant for handing over kills to other people is a pretty cool new shtick for him. Go Belkar!
Well, I think it be at least in part due to the fact that Haley's whole build is about being an archer. Her preferred role in the fight is up to 30 ft. away from the action where she can fire her bow for Sneak Attack while staying away from the stabbity parts. Flanked between two characters built for melee is a particularly bad place for her to be, while Belkar has literally been built with EXACTLY this kind of situation in mind (surrounding by hostiles and still coming out on top). Granted, he prefers a horde of weaklings, but it seems to work well against one or two heavy-hitters, as well.
