Default So, I'm building a malconvoker

Exactly what it says on the tin, I'm building a wizard going into malconvoker for a level 5 game, and I'm a bit stumped. The dm wanted us to roll stats, and I got 17, 15, 12, 11, 10, 10. Now, some decisions are pretty basic, such as putting the 17 in INT and specializing in conjuration, others... not so much.

    So here are my thoughts:

Since one of my main goals will be bluffing demons, I'm going to need to be a human or take a flaw to get versatile (+2 class skills), so that leaves me with spell focus and augment summoning, so, human or 1 flaw and thats all my feats.

Spell selection is going to be a problem... I don't play wizards often, and I'm going to want spell to give me Ac and hp.

Would it be simpler to play a sorcerer instead?

Anyway, I thought I'd ask the playground for help.

Honestly, clerics make better malconvokers, especially if you can nab the Summon domain.

But if you're set on wizard, then you can make it work. You've got the framework already.

Well, read "Mastering the Malconvoker," which is THE Malconvoker handbook. It's got a LOT of solid information, and you can pick and choose what you use depending on the level of optimization you're comfortable with.

You don't actually need versatile, if you can spare the skill points, just buy them cross class, you'll have just enough once you reach level 5.

Once you reach malconvoker, the maximum for your bluff rises to character level +3, just put in 5 skill points.

All you technically lose is 4 skill points, it's not quite worth a feat.
(Or you know, you could take the open minded feat for five skill points...)

Wizards are better Malconvokers due to the ACFs. Trade your Familiar for faster summons and Scribe Scroll for Augment Summoning.

If focusing on summoning, the "fast summons" is the big one. Allows you to, first and foremost, bring those summons out instantly on your turn and apply Quicken Spell to double up the summons per round. Also, Focused Specialist's extra slots really make it easy to afford a crapton of Summons.
