(I was leaning yes, but then I remembered I hate all the existing hive mind creatures and never use them. CR12ish already means this is likely to never get used in my games, but I want it to at least have a chance.)

Well, I did say CORE skill
Granted, I also said the assumed setting was Eberron, which has psionics, so perhaps if it is on the eberron character sheet...nope! No psionic skills.
Due to the fact that I want this to be useable in most games, and a lot of people don't have XPH (including me, hint hint), and because it does not have the "psionic" subtype, I'm going to rule that psionics is out.
If you really, truly, want it, then send me a copy of the XPH, the cost is on you Then we will have a vote of whether to add psionics in (and we won't even vote on it until after I receive my free XPH, mind you), THEN psionics will be accepted. So, yea, if you want to go through all that trouble...

Psionics rules can be found here, near the bottom, though psionic skills wouldn't be much is to this creature

Disguise (Cha), Escape Artist (Dex), Hide (Dex), Move Silently (Dex), and Listen (Wis)
Disguise, Hide, and Move Silently because it should be stealthy for hunting. Escape Artist because I can't see how a creature like this wouldn't be good at getting away, though this might be better as a racial bonus. Lastly, Listen for hunting again so that it could detect prey while burrowed or hidden. I'm picturing a swarm of plants on the side of a tree or something, like a creeper, listening for prey and then bursting around a hapless creature. *facepalm*
When I initially put up the vote, I specified that only core spells were allowed. 6 posts up, I reiterated that specifically psionic skills were not allowed. I have now edited the first post to make the core requirement bigger...
Unless you change your vote, I will assume you voted 20 points in Concentration, Spellcraft, UMD, and divided your other 40 points equally among the other skills. You vote is still valid
That being said, I have no idea what to do with deuxhero's votes...

If it takes you less time to evaluate this then it took me to decide on, allocate and recalculate the points I think it is acceptable .

Knowledge(Nature) is a shoe-in. Perform(Dance) is also required, without a doubt. Use Magic Device would be an excellent scary- those wands you get after the encounter? It's using them. Hide and Move Silently are a necessity for its ambush-fu tactics.
