    New Summoning.

    GUYS, NEW SUMMONING

I think I'm having an aneurysm.

I'm also pretty excited about the new Iced Earth.

Oh, and also I heard the new Tristania is not utterly awful. Who would have thought.

Oh, and also also, I'm back after being gone for like a month. So yay, I guess.

The new Summoning is incredible and makes me want to listen to their old stuff. Speaking of 2013 black metal, would anyone be interested in a little list of good '13 BM I've heard?

I certainly would be. I've heard a lot of the death metal 2013 has witnessed thus far-- Defeated Sanity, Suffocation, Devourment-- but I don't think I've heard much recent black metal.

Oh yes, certainly. The only BM I have this year is Altar of Plagues, Caladan Brood, Leucosis, Sannhet, Fanisk, A Light in the Dark (not sure if that one even counts), Paysage D'Hiver and Progenie Terrestre Pura.

Well, the new Arsis just came out June 4th, but I've yet to give it a listen. Some good 2013 death metal releases I've listened to:

    Expurgate's Dementia Tremens
Sulphur Aeon's Swallowed By The Ocean Tide
    Skineater's Dermal Harvest
    Insentient's Remnants
    Goemagot's Eradication Of Insignificant Beings
    Wormed's Exodromos

I understand Immolation and Tribulation have also released new albums, but I haven't heard either.

Ayup. I just didn't know of the split.

Summoning is of course the other one that jumps out on the list, but I'm strangely attracted to Bornholm. Might check them out more thoroughly another time.

I rather liked Agrypnie, might check them out a bit more. Hadn't heard Ash Pool had released new stuff, and I have to admit I was pretty underwhelmed by the first two songs, but the latter half of their part of the split was pretty great. I loved Arsonist Lodge, which I've never heard of before but will definitely be looking into in the future.

That's what stood out to me of the small portion I had time to listen to. I'll definitely give the rest of the songs you posted a listen as well. Thanks for posting such a comprehensive list.

So "Timo Tolkki's Avalon" is a thing. First album is out, apparently. Coupla heavy hitters attached to it. Anyone listened to it? I'm kinda intrigued.

Also Black Sabbath's 13 is out. Some very mixed responses looks like. I kinda want to get it just for the novelty factor.

Bah, no song is too long.

I do need to get that album, though; I've heard lots of good things about it. (and, it's Sabbath). I wonder if it's on youtube (aside from the single) so I can listen to it now...

@v I'll just search for it myself, then, when I've got the time to listen to the whole thing.

I loved Arsonist Lodge, which I've never heard of before but will definitely be looking into in the future.

That's what stood out to me of the small portion I had time to listen to. I'll definitely give the rest of the songs you posted a listen as well. Thanks for posting such a comprehensive list.
No problem. Do you like Akitsa? If you do their side would please as it's classic Akitsa. Re: Arsonist Lodge, they're pretty cool. I ordered Perkele, Antikristus ja väärä profeetta off Discogs recently and it's pretty good too.

Whatever happened to alternative metal? I know it's still around, like Exotic Animal Petting Zoo or Twelve Foot Ninja but people rarely seem to talk about it anymore and when they do it's always Faith No More and Deftones
