Re: Murder on the Orient Express
What he's saying is that he didn't pick who the counterwagon was going to be, which is true, but considering that the person offering a flash wagon isn't likely going to be picked, and their buddy JeenLeen had at that point no votes and had only had one vote by Murska, it was a very safe thing to do for a lot of credibility.
- - - Updated - - -
Also, from my point of view, the current vote is 100% loss for town. If this doesn't change, I want to propose switching to JeenLeen, who is the consensus second wolf by most people's account.
If they're not, then wolves deserve the win regardless of how hoodwinked you all are by Rogan, because then there's a bigger hoodwinker still.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Sorry, I'm confused. I think Xum's touched on it, but what about these is inconsistent? Your quoted post from Rogan says that he's open to a wagon on anyone other than you or Murska... and then your other quoted post is him saying that he didn't suggest a counter wagon for you.
I cannot disclose or hint at my secret objective, sorry. I like to think that I haven't given town a reason to distrust me, but I can't say more.
And Xum, mathematically our best chances of finding a wolf are staying in you/Rogan. I really don't like the "well let's go for the consensus second wolf option", because the wolves get to shape that consensus too.Loser of Total War: Rise of Kingdoms

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Ah, I see, thanks for clarifying. I think Rogan has already answered - he didn't suggest that specific counterwagon, which is a risky wolf play at the best of times, because Jeen could easily have ended up as the counterwagon. What's the incentive for him to act like that, as a wolf? Why not just sit back and let us get rid of Murska, instead of having to waste a night kill on him? It doesn't make sense to me, and it's part of the reason I'm voting for Xum. Another part being, of course, that we have you backing him up as to his night activities.
Xum, to answer your question - you're pretty hard unpaired with both Rogan and Caedorus. So, options are either you and Cao, or you and Jeen. If Rogan is the wolf, most likely pairing is Rogan/Caedorus, since he's backing him up here, but I could also see Rogan/Cao or Rogan/Jeen.
- - - Updated - - -
To elaborate a bit on that... while I'm committing to voting to one of the pair that HAS to include a wolf, if I had to go outside that, I would vote Caedorus last - simply because Caedorus is hard, hard, hard unpaired with one half of that possibly-wolfy duo. Cao and Jeen could both theoretically be paired with either of the possible wolves. But, at that point, it's a 1-in-3 shot of hitting the wolf, compared to the 1-in-2 shot that we have voting one of Xum and Rogan.Last edited by Let'sGetKraken; 2023-07-10 at 12:07 PM.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
I'm not allowed to copy/paste the fluff, but I can share the following:
I was walking away, there was commotion behind me and I saw the Count storming out of Hector's compartment.
I know I didn't kill Hector, I saw the Count at the compartment, and you saw the Count at his own compartment.
The only people that can be in two places are scum.
Please also note that I came out saying I was at Hector's cabin, the night he got killed, without prompting from anyone. Did anyone visit my cabin? Did they see me there, anywhere else? Was I in two places?
Non, I was not, because I am town. Wolf!Xumtiil would be throwing the game if he came out at lylo saying he was at the crime scene without first confirming if anyone had seen him anywhere else.

I don't know how much I actually got out of recoloring the votes but I put in the effort so it stays. If I trust myself and Caedorus as Town, and Kraken as Neutral, then final two wolves are between Xumtiil/Rogan/Jeen. And by extension, if we don't think this is a bus play by Xum and Rogan as the last two wolves, then Jeen is the safest bet.
That doesn't look like the way the Day is going through and if we're right voting outside of Xum/Rogan, all that means is we lose one more player before having to make the decision tomorrow (ideally I would die so I don't guess wrong).
But anyway. I think I'm going to Vote: Rogan. The flash wagon pivoting away from Murska feels weird. Xum's Day 1 voting record ended up being better than Rogan's.
Yes, it worries me a bit that Jeen is voting Rogan now too when the wolf team in my mind is Rogan/Jeen. I'll keep thinking on that, but bussing for part of the day isn't out of the question.
On a different note, the wagon yesterday(?) on Jeen actually included everyone but Rogan, Xum, and Kraken which makes me feel better about voting Jeen, actually (sorry I pivoted off of that wagon).Avatar by AstralSeal

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Having Jeen on Rogan makes complete sense - at this point I'm expecting to end the day with a tie at best, at which point Jeen will just go "haha suckers" at the last minute and switch. Also, I think we're in lylo, so either we kill a wolf or it's game over (as a mislynch today means tomorrow it will be 2 town 2 wolves, which I think counts as a wolf win, or 1 town 1 neutral 2 wolves, which I definitely think is a wolf win).

I was trying to visit Hector's cabin. I did not do anything to make me able to see this, and I don't know why I did.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Yeah, I really don't understand what happened, but what I've told you is true:
* I tried visiting Hector
* I saw the Count leaving Hector's cabin
* Hector was "dead" the next morning
* You saw the Count in his own cabin the same night
From my perspective, this is the caughtiest wolf that was ever caught, and the only reason we're even debating this is because of "No You"

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
OOC:
I suggested an counter wagon. I didn't suggest or rule out any targets (except, you know, Murska and you).
If I was a wolf, I was risking a wagon on an ally.
Caos d1 vote analysis made me take a look at other days. Xum was always off wagon. They didn't care they knew the results beforehand.
- - - Updated - - -
So, riddle me that:
Why would I allow myself getting caught like that? You trusted me, Cao trusted me, Kraken trusted me.
So why would I risk this by being the one to comitt the crime? As a wolf, I'd have an ally who could take the risk.Spoiler: I'm a seer

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Kraken, I'm not going to ask you to switch right now, you can vote to your conscience. But if possible, if you're online at EOD, if you see JeenLeen swap to my wagon instead of Rogan's to force a 3v3 showdown and hope they win the coin flip, can you be ready to smack it down? I believe this should convince you that I am correct - there is no scenario where Wolf!Xumtiil and Wolf!JeenLeen are buddies and Jeen would put me at risk at lylo.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
So Caedorus jumped vote almost last minute?
OOC: if I die tonight, my money's on Caedorus as the final wolf with Xumtiil or Rogan.
I observed Rogan's room last night. I meant to write to search the compartment, but used the wrong term. I think it worked out, though.
I saw that Caedorus attempted to search Rogan's compartment, but I don't know for sure if he succeeded or not. So he was telling the truth about where he went, but not necessarily telling the truth about if he succeeded... but I reckon he was honest, or both he and Rogan were lying. One or the other.
The governess stands up, looking over the collected personages.
"Trainmaster Bouc, you do us harm. Alledging an affair? No, though perhaps he might be a choice for me. I am here merely to find safe passage home, perhaps with better means of procuring a livelihood. If I can't procure a wealthy husband... Those jewels entrusted to Hildegard..." She shrugs.
"My first night on this train I hoped that perhaps our lowly porter might be more than he seemed. I was correct, but he wasn't a suitable match.
My second night, I tried to meet our dear doctor. But, alas, I ran into Mrs. Hubbard instead.
So my third night I had frankly given up on finding a match. Mrs. Hubbard's ability to carry on so many worthwhile conversations seemed suspicious to me, so I tried to find out if there was more to her than met the eye. But Ms. Hildegard was there.
And, just last night, the dear Count... yes, I saw Ms. Hildegard around there, though I don't think that proves her innoence. Perhaps it is she who was providing illicit incentives to keep the Count in his room.
"The Count and I are no allies." She then winks to him, "But it does look like it will be random chance that determines who gets arrested today." She frowns to Mr. Poirot. "You abstain from the proceedings, do you? Hmph. As if you don't care who lives or dies.
"Well, dear Count, assuming you aren't already a murderer alongside either Bouc or Hildegard, if we both leave this train alive... I can help you with your mourning."
OOC again:
Not much to add OOC, but felt like giving some last-minute RP as the game might end.
I'm assuming Kraken is neutral and Cao is town. Not sure on the latter, but whatever. Or the former I guess... quite possible Kraken has been a wolf and it's Xumtiil/Rogan and Kraken, or well probably Rogan and Kraken if Kraken is lying about being neutral.
Obviously, Xumtiil or Rogan are a wolf, and we'll know which (and probably game over if we're wrong) in a few minutes.
I'm probably tunneling, but I'm looking at Caedorus as the other of the pair.
Or I'm lying about something above in hope the wolves do what I want and tip their hand for the final Day :P

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
In case didn't see in my post above, I'm online and voted Xumtiil. Still a tie, I think.
Guess is Xumtiil/Caedorus last wolves now. Xumtiil setting up others to worry about me swapping last minute, instead of her buddy Caedorus planning to.
- - - Updated - - -
I mean, you moved recently to save Xumtiil, right? I didn't check the timestamps, so maybe that was early AM.
But, Kraken, Cao, don't overreact to me reacting to Caedorus.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
After that, Hastings, it was a straightforward affair. We could have searched all compartments to find out who who stole the forged will from Mr. MacQueen, but we did not have to. The moment I mentioned it, Count Andrenyi's face lost all colour and it was obvious he was our criminal. Or, Mr. Goldenberg, I should call him, for I am sure the real Count has been dead for some time. In retrospect, it was perhaps a kindness that the unfortunate Countess never had to learn that the one who abducted her husband was none other than her own brother who was only pretending to travel with her for support, but in truth wanted to make sure he could escape Paris with the ransom before she could reconsider and contact the police. In his room, we also found the packaging for the sleeping powder the Countess took before never waking up again, so perhaps, Hastings, her death was no accident after all. And of course we also found The Tangerine Skies, the priceless necklace which naturally I have returned to Princess Dragomiroff, who was using the name of her servant for safety.
It was not Mr. Goldenberg who stole The Tangerine Skies, however. No, that charge lies with his accomplice, Miss Debenham. We will never know, Hastings, at which point in time those two found eachother, and this is why it took me so long to find them: the couple was very careful not to betray their relationship, and made sure none of the crimes could be traced back to Miss Debenham. But no thief or murderer can escape Poirot!
Now of course you will ask how it is that the criminal couple managed to get away. It is not, as the papers are suggesting, due to incompetence on part of the carabinieri, Hastings, no, I am afraid the truth is far worse. As soon as we arrived in Italy, you see, they searched the train, having been tipped off about the presence of a German spy. They are currently holding my friend Monsieur Bouc for questioning, and meanwhile Doctor Constantine is nowhere to be found. At first I believed that he would have jumped off the train as soon as we crossed the border, but now it makes sense that he should have been the one to help Mr. Goldenberg and Miss Debenham make their escape.
As soon as I sort out this ridiculous accusation against Mr. Bouc, Hastings, I shall be on the first train to London. I am looking forward to seeing you again and I fear for the times to come.
Xumtiil has died. He was town.
Congratulations, wolves! Final post with everybody's wincons to come.78% of DM's started their first campaign in a tavern. If you're one of the 22% that didn't, copy and paste this into your signature.

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Thank you, dice roller!
Thanks Kraken, you were a fantastic neutral / honorable wolf.
Persolus, I was skeptical of our chances, especially after d2. I'm very pleased it still worked out inthe end.
Jeen, I'm so glad you managed to stay alive long enough.
Murska, I wonder, did you get the same, great but sad flavor for your kill. It was an accident, you stopped me from recruiting Kraken. My win condition was to keep you alive and I only didn't vouch for you because it would be a boring way to fulfill the condition.
And, last but most importantly:
Thank you, Taffi! This was a great game, your texts were delightful.Spoiler: I'm a seer

Re: Murder on the Orient Express
Good game. Not knowing everyone's abilities and the role distribution made things incredibly interesting, and once again I apologise for being terrible at reading Town
