Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
I finally got an appointment for my consultation for top affirmation surgery (in my case radical reduction). It's in March 2025. There should be a couple appointment then the surgery date will be planned. It's not in my region because the public service that did affirmation surgeries is closing, but I was able to get on the wait list for another region and with it being France, it's only a few hours away.
Thinks aren't great here. Nothing as bad as what seems to be happening in the UK but two famous transphobes released a book that is basically a porn fanfic describing transwomen are men getting around by women's clothes and by taking away women's rights. The backlash was taken by them as attempt at censoring women (while they're appearing everywhere on TV and on the radio, which trans and enby people are not).
Anyway, I'm hoping this doesn't lead to more gatekeeping and hatred but I can't help but wonder how closely tied the increasing moral panic and transphobia is linked with the public hospital not getting the funds and doctors to keep operating in my region. Note that they've only closed their services for adults so they're still supporting minors and giving them affirmative health care which is a relief as they seem to be targetted the most by what's been happening.
In other news, I've been seeing a speech therapist for 6 months and it's going extremely well. I'm probably going to start taking hormones in June, I've got my third appointment with my endocrinologist then (first was in October and second in April) and it should be good to go.
Lots of love and support to everyone here <3

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
So, the other day I was arguing on twitter in favor of women's rights, and some guy told me that I didn't need to worry about it, because I am so fat that nobody will ever be able to find my vagina.
On one hand, this was a really mean and fatphobic thing to say.
On the other hand, dude thinks I am a ciswoman, which gave me gender euphoria.
That was one of the strangest emotions I have ever felt in my life.Looking for feedback on Heart of Darkness, a character driven RPG of Gothic fantasy.

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
Congrats on your gender transition stuff. Really exciting to learn about.
The rise in explicit transphobia is scary for sure. I hope it gets snuffed out in your area before it becomes too big.
Some people call it ewphoria, which I think is a pretty clever neologism. Sorry the man was so mean to you. :/

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
Probably not? I'm on twitter, but only to get updates on some webcomics and a musician I like. And even curating my feed like that there sometimes appear some real nasty people in comments if someone I follow shares something even vaguely 'political', like suggesting trans people deserve to exist.

The end of what Son? The story? There is no end. There's just the point where the storytellers stop talking.

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
Still, I feel like what you did, exactly, isn't necessarily what's important there. Like, I kissed a guy once, but I don't consider that as part of my sexual orientation or identity because I didn't like doing it. Though, to be fair, I can't actually judge that I wouldn't like it by that evidence alone (not that I need to); he was also a smoker, and that was way more unpleasant.

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
I just figured out a bit of family history that I was unclear on before. It turns out that Judy Garland (Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz and later known as an LGBT icon despite being cishet) was my grandfather’s first cousin. Knew about the connection before but didn’t know we were that closely related.

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
Though my gender identity seems to have wavered back and forth a little bit, I think it has solidified. I think I would say I am androgynous non-binary.

Re: LGBTAIitp Part 60: Still Going Strong
For what it's worth, the dad has generally been the comic's point of view character (it's been running since 2001) and this incident was never previously mentioned, so it must have been a lot younger. The strip comment a couple of strips later when he goes into more detail (it does not sound like he enjoyed it) is "So Glad I Could Finally Use That Experience For Something" though, which suggests it's autobiographical.
