Re: Warhammer 40k II
Well, my game against Z-Axis ended in my loss. My line-breaker gene-stealers claimed 2 squads by turn 3. And due to a bad move, died. After that, my lictors crawled through a building, and immobilized his Chimera. Proceeding to kill 2 of his hq after losing 1 wound and 2 dieing. The final Lictor managed to charge one of the squads. And due to rending+ lucky rolls. Killed it with a sweeping advance. Which was utter win. He then was killed due to not being in cover.
What I propose is, that we have a 1,500 points each battle. As many people as possible, spread on 2 sides.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Quickly, answer my skill testing question: Where is a link to ver 3.2?
My apologies to any of the players in the 4th edition DnD games I was running. I know I vanished abruptly, you guys didn't deserve that.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
I could be up for that, massive games can be fun. Though it might be worth organising to get everybody into 'reasonable' alliances. Tau, Necrons, Chaos and Guard all on one side would be wtf-weird. And 'nids don't exactly work with anyone.
Ooh, story-themed battles with people playing each parts...tyranids storming a marine-held position, an Ork Waaagh! crashing into IG held worlds, chaos and eldar clashing on a distant planet...
I can tell this is going to amuse me greatly.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Today I played a game, 2000 points per army, of Tau and Tyranids versus Necrons and Guard.
Last week I played Eldar+Guard vs SM and Tau.
The week before, Daemonhunters and Chaos vs Witchhunters and Eldar.
The week before that, Eldar+Necroms vs Chaos and Guard.
It's pretty easy to ignore rationality.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
That's true for tabletop games where people only have one army, but since everyone can play any army they have the codex for there's no reason to ignore the background this time

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Ok - does anyone else have the apocalypse rulebook? I do, and I think it might be fun to use some of the stuff in there, but if I'm the only one I can imagine it being difficult...
Either way, a massive game sounds fun

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Anyone got any tips on working with resin. After talking with the resident model-making expert at my gaming club, I'm feeling a lot of trepidation. The cancer-causing dust thing's got me pretty spooked.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Forge World themselves have an article about working with resin. Generally, I haven't had any problems; there is usually a fairly large amount of excess resin in places to file off, and resin models usually seem to have more small pieces, but otherwise you just stick it together with superglue like you would a metal model.

Ta-da. You may now erect shrines to my glory and such and such.
I'm going to try to get this set up, and see if I can get in on any games.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
Well, there are a few things that are more difficult than standard plastic kits:
1 - glue: you can't glue them together with the warhammer standard glue, as it melts a bit of the plastic to make the parts to stick together, but it doesn't melt resin
- solution: use super glue or all round glue that works on paper and plastic
2 - painting: the paint stick badly to resin compared to plastic (which I personally never basecoat)
- solution: basecoat twice with spray or paint the model with 1 or 2 thin layers of paint in the base color with a tank brush, let it dry, then start painting as ordinary.
3 - modifications: resin is a bit more fragile than plastic when it comes to bending and carving
- solution: be carefull. Also, remember: greenstuff is your friend, and ataches just as fine to resin as to plastic
4 - canser: the dust might cause canser if inhaled inlarge doses over time
- solution: as long as you aren't planning of fielding several apocalypse armies of resin, you should be finecheck out my metal band: http://www.facebook.com/Dreamslain

Re: Warhammer 40k II
I always basecoat my minis with black paint. The way I paint mine is simple.
Basecoat
Magenta Ink
Gore Red, applied un-evenly
light liche purple was
watered down blood red
slithgly stronger liche purple wash
watered down blazing orange
same wash as before
details
very light liche purple wash (to darken it a bit)
It looks quite nice.

Re: Warhammer 40k II
I think I finally have a sig....
Oh, and about the "Resin dust causes cancer thing"
Everything causes cancer. Popcorn causes cancer. I think we all just have to choose our source for cancer, Resin seems an okay way to go to me. (cheaper and cleaner than many other ways at least)Last edited by Jakezor; 2007-11-12 at 09:26 AM.

Sleep causes cancer. I've never known somebody with cancer who hasn't been to sleep at some point in their life. :P

Space Amrines and Star Wars stormtroopers: "For the Emperor!"
Okay, not stricly 40k armies, but I always liked the image of the two groups charging at each other yelling the same battlecry.
