Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
We could do Indian and Pilgrim week (23rd to 29th), although that's kind of U.S.-centric.

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
It does my heart good to see some Playgrounders still in costume (and suggesting some interesting new ideas for a thread theme)
Did anybody make a collection of the costumes used? I feel a little left out on missing the major part of this thread theme, and I'd like to see some of the creative ideas that were floating about while I was gone.
That, and memories are fun.

Maybe Nationality Week? Dress your avatars up in the flags/colors/cultural attire native to your country?

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
How often do you guys do these dress-up weeks? Once every month?
If we do it once every two months, not including holidays and Pirate week, then would it make it better?
Oh, and I like On Fire Week.

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
Once every two months seems good--better than the monthly schedule of a few weeks ago. Doesn't leave any room for annual themes, but we're not going to run out of ideas any time soon.
Thanks, Happyturtle, for the sorting of the list! (Now put Music/Music Videos on it ). Media Themes are all too narrow except for Pixar and All Other Webcomics; I loved xkcd style week, but the style was the theme. Any creature theme is great; most human themes are interesting but not quite enough to transform the board. Action and Genre could be fun no matter which is chosen. Random silly is. . .well, they should be random and spontaneous, like catmuffin week "hey, let's all dress up as a weird fluffy base creature that's the usual trademark of one person".

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
I wonder if a mod could open up a poll for this?
I know we can no longer start them on our own but making a poll thread for the next theme week would help us all come to a consensus. Otherwise someone is just going to decide for everyone and start a new thread and that'll probably be that. Not that that's bad, but the polling option is more democratic if it can be arranged.

Lolwut? themes: (I have no idea what these are...)
- Sub-culture

- Gender swap week (annually on Valentine's week)
- Children week
- Mythology Week
- Draconic
- Mistaken Identity week

*****************************
If we're going to make a poll, we should narrow down the options a bit.
First poll:
When should the next theme week be?
- Before Christmas
- January
- After GB week in February
How often should we have theme weeks (allowing for maneuvering around holidays and pre-scheduled stuff)?
Second poll:
What should the next theme be?
Everyone post their three favourite themes, and we'll use the rankings to make a proper poll.Last edited by happyturtle; 2009-11-02 at 07:37 PM.

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
Kobold (Draconic) has already been done too.
Either January or after GB works for me.
Theme:
-Elements
-ON FIRE!
-Nintendo week (I know it's not on the list but it merges Mario and Legend of zelda weeks while adding hundreds of possibilities for everyone)

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
A couple of thoughts:
Perhaps we can choose one of the broader theme categories first? Then after the category has been decided vote on the various possibilities within that theme category? That'd be two polls. Unless it's possible to put all options in one poll, that is. In which case go with that because it would be one less poll.
As to the frequency can we vote on this just once and get it over with for each period of time? So not "when should the next one be" but "how often should these occur from this point on." That would save doing this every time. If we do it all, that is.

How often?
Every six weeks does seem like a good compromise.

Once every six weeks seems like a good idea, yes. As far as themes go, I'm partial for Nationality and, of course, Goblinoid.

Re: Halloween/dress-like-a-playgrounder week -- 26th October till 1st November
I think Videogame week (rename "Nintendo Week") would be best. Also, in January. Given that Gender Bend Week is one of those we hold every year, lots of people already have avatars for it, so it won't put that much of a strain on avatarists. It'll work OK even if they're a little close.
My vote:
VideoGame Week on January
