Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Celtois, you promised me disconcerting material!
I wasn't disconcerted, I just met up with a few things that actually just annoy me!
Or maybe something's wrong with me, I dunno.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I'm certainly not going to object to higher numbers. Part of the reason the initial threads died was the player base shrunk and closed off. No new players and some of the old ones leaving mean that it just sorta vanished.
Sorry there Darklord. Perhaps I'm just more easily disconcerted by.

Meh, it seemed kinda just thrown in there to make it edgy. I found it more distasteful than disconcerting.

I'll grant you some parts of it felt more then a a little bit contrived. I however still found the initial police brutality scene and the breaking of Daisy to be more disconcerting then then the later parts. Because the detective and Daisy felt more human then Opha

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Wow, I was an ass back then.
Ophana eventually went from a jerkass to a sadomasochistic and socipathic monster somehow, and I'm still feeling bad for how nasty I was to poor Saff (let alone Clarice). Admittedly, Saff and Clarice did get better, but still.
If Metropolis starts up again, I won't be leaping back into the "kick all my characters in the FACE!" mentality.
Oh, and I'd like to officially apologize for just about every post I made there.Last edited by Beans; 2010-12-14 at 06:21 AM.

Ten bucks says Beans' first character is some trenchcoat wearing chick with hair dye, no concept of what a 'shower' is and a severe eating disorder.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I might just transport Apostle over unchanged from that old Supers RP that Raz Fox started. I'd imagine he'd fit right in with the setting of Metropolis.
Longbow II was a very fun character concept, and I'd like to get another chance at playing him/her, but I think (s)he might be a bit too 'gold/silver age' for a Metro redux. I'll have to tinker with that a little more...
Frost... eh. Screw him. Nice design, but all he did was whine whine whine like the little bitch he was.Last edited by Ashen Lilies; 2010-12-14 at 06:51 AM.

Current character idea is a street-cleaner gal with metallokinesis. She'd live in some sort of disused place full of metal things with her push-broom, which she'd consider a person.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Yeah that was the plan. The original idea was to bring a Superhero style organization to the nexus with some of the metro flavor. It was point out to me why this was a bad idea.
So this will be a complete reboot of Metropolis as it's own little world.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Nothing wrong with new 'verses. Even if they only stick around for a few months and fade away, that's still a few months of fun and roleplay for the participants. But this looks like it has a better chance than most of sticking, mostly because of the past history and high number of players involved.
Like usual, I won't be participating, as one 'verse is enough for me, but I wish you luck. If you're still around in 6 months, PM me with an index entry. My avatar! Isn't it just utterly diabolical? Ashen Lilies made it!

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
Well, after having read a bit of the setting information, I am wondering a few things:
Looks as if we should be sticking to lower-powered superheroes, so that they wouldn't be able to escape this Metropolis place. But then, one part mentioned that some people get to work with the police, and some have the hope that they'll be released. Should the world outside of Metropolis just be ignored, and we should only make characters that are resigned to stay there, or who just aren't interested in leaving?
For the police force working in the city, it looks as if it's mostly non-powered people and the odd low-powered one. The level of technology seems a bit advanced, at least, and most powered-up types are in the books, so the police would presumably have ways to deal with them. Should we mostly be sticking to making random mutants in the city, or would you appreciate a few people making some cops? Would robots be permissible?
I read that magic wasn't allowed. Would that still be true, and, either way, should we just keep to having mutants or technologically advanced characters? Id est, no aliens or anything? I don't really have any ideas. I just like having characters from outside of the box. They don't all have to be mutants who got their powers as teen-agers, so they could act all angsty about it.
Also, villains. I have plenty of ideas for all kinds of crazily powered characters, but the guy that I'd like to start out with is Doctor Francis Farcy, also known as Overheals. A genius brain surgeon who only went a bit mad but mostly bitter, when he found out that he was a late bloomer, when it comes to mutating. His power is that he is stuck the way he is, which is basically a pretty normal human, but this means that he'll just keep going back to his norm. Healing really fast, and it'd take more than normal to alter him via drugs or mental attacks and such, and he'd recover faster than others (not cool, since he was a bit of an alcoholic and now requires a lot more of the stuff).
Mostly, I wanted to make an evil healer type of character. If someone is messed up, he can use part of himself (a syringe of his blood, ofttimes) to make them go back to normal. If they're already fine, their body would change to become just like his, which, unless they're of a very similar body type, will suddenly grow or reduce whatever body part gets hit. Something like that. He might try turning people into clones of himself, if he can give them a blood transfusion or something. I don't know. You're either an Outcast, or you're in denial.
Strength and stupidity in numbers.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I think we could do with a serious plot in the FFRP section. We have quite a few silly ones already.
However, if we could shy away from the "LOOK HOW EDGY I AM" of the original IC thread, that would be grand, too. You can be dark and serious without being almost immature about it.
As it is, I have an idea for a character (Still need to think of a power) who runs some sort of underground club/gambling ring. I had a little picture I made up, too. I just gotta work out what power he has.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
They can try and leave. However the world outside of Metro is unrelated. Once they leave, they aren't being played anymore. Until they reenter Metro.
People can make cops if they'd like. Though do understand the laws in Metro are pretty oppressive, and empowering to the cops.
Magic is not allowed. Aliens are out, robots are in. But they aren't super powerful. I don't want to see transformers wandering the streets. But fairly weak robots would be allowed I guess.
Outside of the box, frankly the whole setting kind of is a box. You can plan a mutant human, or whatever age floats your boat, or a normal human. Lets just stick to that.
Yeah Villains are fine, not all people who ended up with powers will be good.
Metro is dark, I will give you that. It's what makes it different from the other worlds. Doesn't mean there can't be hope. But in general it kinda sucks to live their and people just make the best of it. If that doesn't really appeal to you that's alright I would suggest not joining then.
I will agree. There isn't really a need to by ridiculously morbid, and the like. I'm not going to do an outright ban on it. But lets be reasonable.Avatar by me

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
There have actually been a good number of serious plots in this forum, many of which are still in progress. Almost all of the AnimeITPs (BleachITP, NarutoITP, etc), for instance, were based on this mentality from the beginning. While these settings tend to cater to a more specialised playerbase and thus won't be to everyone's taste, they shouldn't be forgotten just because of that.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
I am currently in the process of creating a plot thingy.
Basic summary: It's 2065. The environment and political dealios have improved, stuff seems great, and therefore something must go horribly wrong.
Five years prior, a clandestine group of paranoiac misfits took over an abandoned research base in the Arctic Circle.
Of course, the twitchy buggers just had to also be brilliant, most of them in the field of Human Enhancement.
They created a slew of, well, Enhanced Humans and such, each taking its Project Name and the nature of its enhancements from a mythological or cryptological creature. Because that's cool. However, Stuff Went Really Wrong and most of these EHs ended up in their cryopods and scattered through various nations. Presumably the crazies had to bail and hide their work...
But now, in 2065, many of those EHs are being brought together for what is thought to be the common good. Under the direction of a council of multinational AI units (because that's cool), they are being assembled.
Why?
Because a small group of EHs are out and about and they're just as depraved as their creators. They're working with a shadowy group (there had to be one) called Zenith.
So yeah. I won't try to say my idea is original, because I was more concerned with making it interesting and hopefully fun than originality.
Characters would be Enhanced Humans based partly on myth and urban legend creatures and things. Example off the top of my head would be someone being Project Kraken and their enhancements relating to tentacles or suckers or something like that.
Interests, questions, suggestions, complaints?
So, yeah. It's like Metal Gear Solid 4 plus Alias plus Beans Was Bored.Last edited by Beans; 2010-12-26 at 04:21 PM.

I'm of the opinion that we need a Sci-Fi space-opera type setting. We don't have any settings that really involve travelling on ships through space to silly campy sci-fi worlds.

Re: FFRP Central: All players start here!
It'd be best to work out solid groundwork before going into something like that. Each of these settings needs a "Hub" (Somewhere everyone can get to readily, like the taverns) before it can really kick off, I think. I'd suggest somewhere like the Mos Eisley cantina in star wars, or maybe even define one whole planet and make specific parts of it as you go. You could go from the spaceport to the streets to the cantina to the wilderness of the planet, and even buy a ship or hitch a ride to other planets and stuff. Although I suspect big ships (Star destroyer style) would count as full locations as much as any planet.
We'd also need to sort out general universe details, like anything important that everyone would know, and setting details.
