Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
It's terrible.
Whoopee doo, you saved seven seconds of charge time. Or you could've, y'know, not died because you had ten extra health. Just a thought.
You don't see many Medics who use the Blutsauger either (at least not well), that doesn't make it bad.BANG → !

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Wasn't this my sole complaint about the Demo update? I have kind of gotten over it because now I understand what Team Fortress 2 is about.
The Shovel, Bonesaw and Fire Axe have been removed from the game.
This is one game I will not play!
Every class with 125HP now has 175HP.
Every class now regenerates health over time.
Hats now grant up to 50 bonus health to the wearer.pubstompersplayers like to go on long rampages with subpar weapons.
The Medic class has been removed from the game. We noticed very few players were playing this class.[/list]
Valve is disencouraging Medics not only because people don't always want to play as them, but because they're too incredible. It's for the sake of pub balance, you know?
It's not often I live by 10 health, especially with my Regen Needle Gun, but it is quite often I get mowed down by minigun fire. Not competitively mind you, but I'll find it reasonably useful when I'm not playing seriously.
You can rename every item, including base items. Hell yes. I love Valve.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Oh. Not just a TF2 update, a TF2 update.
Welp, I'll be back in 3-4 weeks when everyone's moved on to something else.
(It's probably good that this landed before I went on holiday.)I write a gaming blog. It also hosts my gaming downloads:
Fatescape - FATE-based D&D emulator, for when you want D&D flavour but not D&D complexity.
Exalted Mass Combat Rules - Because the ones in the core book suck.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Now, I know all you outstanding people out there are excited about the update, but I have a request to make of you guys...
Recently, it has come to my attention that various species of crocodile were suddenly declining in numbers all around the world.
I have pledged to support research into why the magnificent beasts are disappearing, but I need help. Specifically, monetary assistance.
So, I am proposing the following:
The Jibar & Byrnbot Crocodile Preservation Fund
All proceeds will go to ensuring that no croc in need is left out, and that we can learn valuable new things from these engimatic animals.
Writings and ramblings would be here. Get it out of my head, and into yours.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
My initial reaction:
"Items can be collected in sets? Holy balls, are we in Diablo 2?"
Which was soon confirmed as I saw some clown spamming "N batter helmet O vintage tyrolean" on some pub.
Except now there's no LOL-1 to contain that madness.
Oh God.

Crafting new items is simple. Take the logical counterpart, add one reclaimed metal, and done.
Ech, reclaimed metal, but oh well. Need moar dupes.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Oh great. The Milk is secondary, as was probably logical. And the Shortstop acts like a scattergun. With a half-second of slow (60%, slows to about revved heavy speed) per hit. I need to get my hands on one, but this strongly implies that the scout set is actually worthwhile. As a scattergun, the shortstop is suddenly viable for picking. It makes enemies easier to run down and hit. And the scout easily contributes in teamfights with milk and picks. And no one cares about the melee.
Oh damn. That actually is bad.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
I wish they threw in some paint, or a key, or like some Dueling game or.. Something.
Wait, each Dueling Game costs a dollar per 5? 20 cents each? That doesn't sound like a lot, but.. I'd much rather be able to use them with much less discretion..

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
Im sure the prices will drop in a day or so. The community all seem to think that £11 is too much per hat. Wait. Like I am. Because damn, if Im gonna buy 6 hats more to see what the free gift is than anything else (secondly to give more money to valve - I paid £20 for >700 hours of gameplay), I want it to be price effective.

Re: [Steam] Thread XVI: The biggest in-joke in gaming
But Valve, like any company, know that people like to whine about any kind of high-ish price. And if whining actually results in a lower price, they've effectively been payed for doing so. I doubt Valve will lower the prices now. Though I guess maybe they've hinted that they might in that interview.. And with their own point system set up, they could offer refunds.. Hmm..
