I'm not even sure if he made it off world. He apparently joined a gang as one of the juves. I personally suspect his father knows and is of a mind of "It'll be good for him, toughen him up." Kid probably wanted to become a remembrancer, or administratum worker, or a dentist.

How in the sweet name of tzeentch did I not notice this beautiful thread before?

Got into Warhammer 40k for the lore after I bought a plastic primarch when I was 8 or 10. Was extremely happy to discover there was a whole Game off of it. I've only played the RPGs though.

None of the stuff in 40k ever really scared me, but some of the Slaaneshi/Dark Eldar stuff was disturbing. Homunculi are cool though. Flesh Warping God Emperor-forsaken Monstrosities that enjoy torturing people to death before rezzing them and doing it all over again. What's not to love?

You know, it occurs to me that what would have been brilliant is printing the kid stuff as in-universe propaganda-fiction. Then you can have a bunch of heroic space marines and heroic guardsmen and heroic kids doing heroic things in the name of the Emperor, and it makes sense that it's less dark because the Imperium made it that way on purpose.
