Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
Tarquin has a heart of ice.
EDIT: Ominious half page is ominous. Tarquin took it a step too far and is about to pay for it with Elan challenging him to that timely duel.Last edited by ChaosOS; 2013-08-29 at 01:30 AM.

More members of Team Tarquin... He does consider this to be a turning point in something, that's for sure.

Well. That's. Something. I was solidly in the "Tarquin= not a completely terrible person" camp. Oops.

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
I was online at the moment this was posted, looking through some of the older comics, and looks like Tarquin is pretty bad.

This seems to confirm the previous theories that cat-girl-person is a rogue (that sure looked like a sneak attack to me).

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
Whelp, here's hoping Tarquin dies in a completely anti-climactic and degrading way.
SpoilerMy hope: gets jammed in a soul gem by Xykon. He gets to look forward to enough time trapped in a soul gem that his time as ruler of one of the largest empires of the Western Continent will be trivial.

Do we know for sure that Haley's uncle is a traitor or has been just so heavily implied that I just assumed it?

Dammit, Kilkil, why did you have to re-enter the scene as soon as I stopped betting on you in the Death Pool thread?!

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
Well um...hmm. This was surprising.
I am kinda still a Tarquin fan, in that he is a villan who interests me but still needs his long coming comeuppance. After this though...seriously? I would cheer a bit if Haley was the one to kill him. Silently, while no one was expecting it. Would ruin his plan and be pretty dang awesome.
Unlikely, but one can dream. Good work Giant, nice throwing people for a loop.
Also like the reemergence of Mr Lizard Ambassador with such important news. I had totally forgotten him, and now I feel bad that I did.

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
Oh, wow. That's just a nasty move. As if Tarquin needed more evidence to solidify his placement among the ranks of the truly vicious and evil. I feel like everything's coming to a head almost too fast, but then again, Tarquin was always a big plot mover so wrapping up all the plot points before the end of the book seems like a perfect job for him and his crew.
And an interesting note to consider: Bozzok was paying Tarquin to keep Ian in prison. I think that means Bozzok is due for another appearance before the end of the strip. One which may end badly for him.

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
I'm a little puzzled by what Tarquin is up to here, though. If he actually wants the Order to get on with fighting Xykon "for him", why is he trying to sidetrack them with what amounts to a time consuming sidequest?
He's certainly been petty before (see Enor and Gangi in the arena), but he's never indulged in pettiness to the detriment of his own larger plans.
Something may be afoot. Maybe the other shoe will drop next strip.

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
This is actually the sort of thing that had me putting Tarquin in the "nearly as bad as Xykon" long before recent events (said events merely removed the "nearly"). He's not just evil, he's pettily evil.
In other news, I was wrong about my long-standing belief that we wouldn't hear Ambassador Gourntonk's message for the Empress because it wasn't plot-relevant, but it looks like it was pretty much irrelevant anyway. Although he got out enough that it could have been if the Empress wasn't such a moron.
Also interesting to see more of Team Tarquin entering onto the stage, which helps support the idea that the rest of them will wind up playing an actual role. Miron's speech pattern seems a little more casual than the rest so far, but I don't know if that really implies anything about his character or class.
The latter.Last edited by ti'esar; 2013-08-29 at 01:45 AM.

Just when I think Tarquin couldn't get any more loathsome, a new strip comes along.

Re: OOTS #915 - The Discussion Thread
Seems like even the ever-practical Tarquin isn't immune to the lure of For The Evulz ( aka the Villain Ball) - I understand the need for a scapegoat but he could have arranged that and NOT told Haley.
With Haley a crucial part of a team that's basically going to eliminate his worst evil rivals, he's just shooting himself in the foot by antagonizing and distracting her. Though I suppose as a Lawful Villain he's especially prone to using petty laws to lash out in general - lacking the intuitive clarity of Chaos.
Strategic critique aside, great comic - good to see more of Tarquin's team in action.Last edited by AlexandusIgniel; 2013-08-29 at 01:54 AM.
