Sounds like you're in a good position to come out alright then and that's good to see. Here's to hoping there will only be a little in the way of property damage as well.

Short version, most of the US is tornado country. The whole "ocean mountain plains mountain ocean" geography means we get something like 90% of all tornadoes worldwide*. Alabama specifically has a lot of limestone**, which means fully underground basements are something of a rarity. Even ours isn't fully underground, but it's not a daylight basement so it's still markedly better than most around here. Kansas, as a quick example, probably doesn't have that problem.

So far we've managed to never have property damage, so here's hoping that trend continues! We also have a generator we got half a year ago in case the power goes out, so bonus. If I get rich I'll be able to have solar along the roof.

    * and like half of those are in Alabama tonight, apparently.

** fun fact! Birmingham is the only known place in the world where all three components for steel - iron ire, coal, and limestone - are naturally occurring in close proximity. That's the reason Birmingham exists, quite frankly, and why we were a massive hub for steel back in the day. We even got the nickname the Magic City, since we practically appeared overnight.

    The latter.

Papa Murphey's can probably do the former well, too, but I haven't ever tried a pizza with (any sort of) fish (from anyone) so I wouldn't know.

I very much relate. It happens more often if I withdraw for a day or three. My voice will get croaky...and I just forget words are a think for few seconds. Then I have to get all the parts working together. Mouth movements, throat tension, actually pushing air out of the lungs all at the same damn time. Can take a time or three.

That I regularly just meow at people doesn't help.

...It was either that or Liquid Snake saying "Brother!" but I can't find a clip that's just Liquid Snake saying that one word. It's always either a full scene or a compilation of every time Liquid or Ocelot says "brother" in any context.

I've never forgotten how to speak, but sometimes my mouth, teeth, and tongue decide they don't want to play right now and I end up stuttering for a bit.

I can quickly get back to normal diction by taking a deep breath, or if that doesn't work by repeating a certain vulgar verb three to six times.
