Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
After taking Trazoi's tutorial I've been messing around with Inkscape a bit and made some of the characters for a crazy adventuring party a friend and myself thought up. In the order of visualisation:
Carnax Skullcrusher, Ogre Bard
Humphrey Bramblefoot, Halfling Barbarian
Aundra Noqundar, Drow Cleric of Loviatar
"Squiddy", Alhoon Mage, with his squid familiar
And that leaves two more party members (the hardest) to make and the party is complete.Spoiler

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
No, I have my male or female template at two or four or one point five stroke depending on gender, and how close to OotS I want the drawing to be, or how much detail I put in it. So I have my female template at a stroke of 2, and I zoom in and start working on it. When I posted it at avatar sized, I saw that people could not see alll the detail, so I resized it.

Keith Baker, on the age of Erandis d'Vol:
Spoiler
... The miniature of her certainly makes her look older, but personally I like young Erandis both on the basis that the purge of the line started before she could grow into her full powers, and also because it lets her and Jaela have a vicious catfight sometime.
Maybe I'm playing a wrong game.

Thanks! How exactly do I make lines the same thickness? Perhaps I somehow missed it in the tutorial, but I have no idea how to do it.
Very helpful indeed! Highly recommended for everyone who wants to start creating OotS-style characters *nodnod*Spoiler

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
Thanks Crimmy!
Lots and lots of practice, I guess.
Seriously.
I had no artistic ability AT ALL before coming to the OOTS forums a few years ago and downloading a free trial of Illustrator. I still can't draw anything remotely realistic, only cartoons, but I'm content with that for now.
As for where the style itself came from...lots and lots of doodling on paper while I'm supposed to be working. :P
EDIT: Oh, and
P.S. The last one (in the bottom right, I actually did this one first though) is supposed to be me.Last edited by Sneak; 2008-03-30 at 11:37 PM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
Everyone seems to think that. Personally, I like their weird arms. Mainly because it means I don't have to draw really arms and hands.
Extremities are the bane of my existence.
Oh, and Serp: those are pretty good. The looks do look a little weird, but I've got no suggestions for that.
As for V.Z. and Sensate: awesome avatars, especially if they're your first tries!

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
The oddity in both Jessica Rabbits is the exposed leg appearing to join the torso in the middle. Moving the slit of the dress further to the left would be the way I'd fix the problem but that is probably a bugger to do with the nearly completed avatar. Maybe have the slightly bowed leg emerge from the slit at knee height instead, after it's had a chance to "bend" within the confines of the dress and come to the centerline? The left avatar's foot is properly connected to the leg, the right's shades towards implausible.
[EDIT: A better idea! On the right avatar, the exposed left leg's curve is severe enough that it might be attached to the RIGHT hip. Move that leg's foot to the right just enough for the heel to overlap the right side of the dress slit, enough to expose the point where we will be able to barely see the newly drawn left foot. Delete the barely exposed "right" foot.]Last edited by Quincunx; 2008-03-31 at 08:58 AM.

Re: OotS Style Art/Fanart Showcase II
That is quite good. What's even better is that you said you didn't have any talent when you first started, which makes this even more inspiring.
And I agree with what Quincunx said, that should correct the leg problem (not that it's bad as it is, I probably wouldn't even notice any oddity if you hadn't mentioned it). The thing is, they seem to be coming out from one single point, and it's a bit difficult to adapt the original OotS leg style to that type of dress - "hiding" the right leg and technically making it her left leg would make a nice improvement.
