Fatbelly 3: Third Time's the Charm (Now Underway)
Fatbelly 3:
Third Time's the Charm
Standing in front of the building the directions took you to, you can't help but feel surprised. You were all expecting more of a... mansion, to put it bluntly. Just the fact that he paid for the charted airfare and limos to get you all here should be evidence enough of his wealth, but the rather spartan yellow ranch you see before you does not seem the type of house for a wealthy older gentleman to own. In fact it seems perfectly ordinary, the type of house you would see in a sitcom or anything involving a perfectly ordinary house, because the house itself is that. Perfectly; ordinary.
After five minutes or so of checking your luggage to make sure it's all there, the front door of the house opens and Ezlo walks out. He's a short gnome with a waist long white beard decked in a bright green robe. He carries a wooden staff with a caricature of a bird's head engraved at the top. He hops down the steps with a youthful vigor that reminds a few of you of Willy Wonka from the old movie with Gene Wilder.
"Ah! My esteemed guests! Welcome one and all to the third annual Fatbelly competition! First off, I want to say this right off the bat: I promise I will not try to kill you. You guys are all my friends, I would never intentionally harm you. I also remember last year's contest, and I know many of you are still shaken from it; this year's contest was designed to be as normal as possible to make up it. BUT! This does not guarantee that some of our more, enthusiastic, competitors won't try to kill you themselves. Thus I have hires a team of clerics to cast True Resurrection if and when one of you is killed. Let's move into the back, shall we? The first course is waiting!
The Rules
1 – All players begin with 10 Munchies and a 5 special ability points detailed below.
2 – Each round I will announce the food up for grabs. The food will result in either a reduction or increase in Munchies. Each round will last 2-3 days depending on people posting their actions and how much time I have.
3 - The competition will go on for 16 rounds; the winner will be whoever has most Munchies at the end of Round 16.
4 – When the food is announced the players have a number of options to choose from. This will usually include:
- Eat the food
- Refuse the food
- Offer it to someone else (that someone doesn’t have to accept, you can then offer it to someone else or refuse it.)
There will also be other options from round to round. All these actions are posted on the thread; they are NOT PM’d to me, EXCEPT for certain special actions & abilities that will be described below.
Humorous actions that won't complete destroy the game might be accepted at my whim. I like creative thinkers.
5 – If you have a portion offered to you, you should post your answer in the thread. If you don’t post I’ll assume you accepted the food, however I will be lenient when someone offers food just before the round ends.
6 – Before posting the next course I will announce the results of the previous round complete with current Munchie totals.
7 – When a player drops to negative Munchies they’re out of the game
8 – Non posters will lose 2 Munchies per missed round, but will not be timed out until they hit negative Munchies or request to leave the game.
9 – Random events are certain to appear from time to time with special rules that will be explained when the time comes.
10 – The winners might get a special trophy or reward depending on if I can get someone to make some. I'm not good with anything artistic, so if someone can volunteer, I would be insanely happy.
Stealing
Fatbelly competitors have the chance to steal food from other people! Each player begins the game with 3 steals, and can use one per round to take another persons food for themselves. This action should be PM’d to me. The victim will not know who stole their food, but the number of steals people have left will be displayed in each rounds results, so you could be found out.
Even if the victim has already passed food on or refused it, the steal takes effect, basically the steal overrides the victim’s action for the round.
Poison
New to the Fatbelly contests is Poisoning! Each contestant came prepared with three bottle of poison to use in one of two ways. You can either try and poison someone else's food which will result in -2 Munchies added to their total. You can also poison your own food secretly and offer it to someone else, which will result in -4 Munchies being added to the Munchie total. Poison's get PM'd to me, and can be used once per round.
Special Abilities
All contestants start off the game with 5 special ability points, which can be used to buy special abilities described below. When buying special abilities, send me a PM with the information. At the end of each round, three special ability point will be given to the three deemed most worthy by me. This could be for good RPing, good strategy, or anything I want. The winner will be listed in the round results with the reason why.
Steals - 1 point each You gain an extra steal.
Poisons - 1 point each You gain 1 extra poison.
Boxed Lunch - 1 point each On the way to the contest you ate a hearty meal. You start with +2 Munchies. (Cannot be bought after game start.)
Heightened Senses - 2 points When someone steals from you, you know who did it! Also, 50% chance of being warned that your food is poisoned.(Automatic ability – no PM needed)
Secret Stash - 2 points each You have a secret stash of food you can eat instead of a particular course. You have 2 portions and they give you +2 Munchies, so they’re useful when you don’t fancy a course.
Precognition - 2 points each During the game you can use this ability to know what affect the next course will have on your Munchies, and you can react accordingly. Note this can only be used once per Precognition you buy.
Martial Training – 3 points If someone tries to cannibalize, steal or poison you, you beat the hell out of them, negating the attempt and hurting the attacker for -2 Munchies. Works 100% of the time when preventing Cannibalism, and 50% when preventing steals and poisons. (Automatic ability, no PM needed)
Cannibalism – 5 points When someone is down to 2 Munchies or less, you can send a PM to me saying that you are going to feed on them while they’re weak for a +5 Munchie bonus! Unfortunately the target gets taken out of the game...but what do you care! It's also your action for the round, so you can't eat the course on offer, even if your victim has Martial Training and kicks your butt. You can only use this ability twice in the game, and other competitors will then know you have no further ability. (In honor of Orzels servant eating exploits in the first game!)
Special Situations
If two people steal the same dish, the first to PM me gets it while the rest just waste a steal.
If two people cannibalize the same person, they each get +2 Munchies. Instead of each getting +5.
If two people poison the same dish, the effects stack.
If you buy the special abilities Heightened Senses and Martial Training, the poison detection only stacks to 75% percent, with a 50% chance of hurting the poisoner if the poisoned your food.

I'm in with my +1 Frying pan of sharkbane.
With poison, the game seems so much more interesting since the players who normally got passed all the food are now going to be the main targets.

You don't have to buy any special abilities yet, you can wait until the very last round if you want to. If you get more points during the game you can buy whenever you want either.
I'm glad to see so much interest so far!

w00t!! I just noticed that you give ability points throughout the rounds! Very cool...
Between finishing Camp Sleeps-A-Lot, Llama Llama Duck, and Werewolf V and now this one... I think I've had my fill for a little while. If anyone sees me accepting an invitation to another game, please stop me.
Better yet, help me get the next round of great games suspended until some of these are finished!Unofficial Brew-Meister in the playground. Just ask!

"Death to Nigma"? I wonder what I did to deserve that one?
Oh well, I'm in. Are we expected to send in the special abilities before the game starts, or whenever we please? Because the new rules seem to state that we can get new special abilities during the game, one of many innovations.
Innovations which I love, by the way. Great job so far, Ezlo!Avatar by the illustrious Dr. Bath.

You really think so? I think that half of the poisons being successful would be better for the game on the whole. Any larger and I think everyone would go for it.
