I was taller than a normal adult by the time I turned seven." she'll take some of those delicious looking deviled eggs, popping one into her mouth, "The 'looming specter of death' thing was just too good to pass up this year, since i finally found a robe my size."

"How about you? How'd you decide on your costume?"

A Devil's Thanks

Sekhmet is rather perturbed by Ilpholin's reaction. What did she say wrong? She isn't sure, but she doesn't want to stay in sight of those furious eyes for long. "Thanks. Uh, sorry for taking your time." Hurriedly, Sekhmet rushes away. She makes it all of 10 feet before tripping over herself, crashing to the ground and spilling her plate of food. She pushes herself up to hands and knees and starts picking up the mess she made.

Ilpholin's withering gaze bores into the back of Sekhmet's head as she turns around. At least until Sekhmet trips and falls. Lolth below she was being tested.

Ilpholin steps up behind Sekhmet and puts a hand upon the shoulder, gripping maybe a little stronger than necessary. "Leave it. The spiderbots will attend to the mess." Indeed, she beckons and two converge to discretely clean up the spill for Sekhmet.

"Oh, uh, alright." Sekhmet stands up. The tight grip on her shoulder says something is amiss for the hostess. "Is something wrong?"

Gara stares at the scars. Ouch. Really ouch.
”So, super tough, then. But that only means you’re tougher.” It doesn’t take a genius to figure out that that rumbling stomach means.
”Well come on, let’s get something then!” Gara says with a laugh, leading Glavvy to the table.

The woman takes a look at the display of food and drink, and after watching others for a bit will get a large mug to just fill up with cheese fondue as well as another for water. "Why is Bubble Fox so far from territory-home? And you smell...sick?" She asks after a bit, watching Gara in the corner of her eyes and wary. "Scent is different. Hiding maybe?"

Gara is busy taking a plate of sugary things from the table. She actually looks surprised at the question.
"Oh, you know what I am? No one ever seems to know what I'm talking about when I tell them. But uh, I'm fine. I'm from a different uh, colony. We're a little different there than the ones you must know." she says, stuffing a marshmallow into her mouth. It's a little embarrassing, being told how you smell.

Ilpholin removes her hand as Sekhmet stands back up. "No," she replies. Why would there be? The spiderbots are taking care of it. Maybe she just has resting loathing face.

Oh, yeah. I was looking for one of those robot spiders to talk these from me so I don't have to babysit them all night. Nigel says, shaking his bag a little by way of explanation. Drugs! Seems they aren't around when it's plot convenient they've scampered somewhere else though. Nigel says, frowning. Darn spiders.

Nadas strolls over to the banquet tables, heaping a plate high with food and then coming up beside Sekhmet.
"Hey there. I just wanted to say, that was amazing."

Sekhmet turns to the approaching Elf, surprised. "Thank y... Wait, what?" She has no clue what he's talking about whatsoever. "I, uh, don't know what you mean."

Nadas may notice that his silver sword is starting to glow faintly and grow warm.

Ilpholin's eyes follow Sekhmet for some time before she finally turns away to head further into the crowd, away from the devil dressed as an angel. Perhaps she must tolerate the abomination's presence for tonight, but she doesn't have to do so nearby.

The man in the hood with clouds notice his chance and slips through the people approching the hostess.

"Good evening Miss Schar'cha?" he says a bit unsure if he spelled it out right. He makes a slight bow as he greets her. "It all looks really nice around here, can't wait to see what you have arranged for some scares." As he bows up again he notices the belly. She might feel how he thinks about a polite way to know if she is pregnant. He did saw her, but his alias he is here doesn't. So he stares at her out of the one hole in his mask.

"That woman happens to be the Nexus's premier devil-slayer. And demon-slayer. Any kind of vaguely fiendish thing, really; she's not picky. And then you go up to her being so nice, and trying to help clean."

"Relax. She isn't going to hurt us while the party lasts." Nadas advises, piling still more soul cakes and pretzel spiders onto his plate. "You really didn't know?"

"No, I, uh, just heard there was party." Sekhmet doesn't look reassured. "I saw the hate in her eyes. I thought I was imagining it! Everyone's been so accepting here." She then realizes something about Nadas' wording. "Wait, she won't hurt us? Are you a, uh, like me?" The wording of that last sentence would be easier if Sekhmet was sure of what she is.

Nadas carefully puts an entire little cake in his mouth and eats it up before nodding to Sekhmet.

"Can't say I'm thrilled to be what I am either. But I ha- feel obligated to ask - how does one stop being a tiefling?" Nadas has an idea, based on his own experience, but he doesn't want to lead Sekhmet to jump to conclusions.

"I, uh, don't really know? I didn't choose to have it done to me." Technically, she did, but she didn't know what she was agreeing to. "I'd, uh, rather not talk about it." Or think about it, for that matter. It was a very traumatic experience.

"Oh, uh, sorry. Forget it then. Your costume's ... pretty good." Nadas says a bit lamely, positioning himself to depart the banquet table one way or another.

"Uh, thanks." Sekhmet doesn't hold her costume in very high regard. The feathers on her wings are a mess especially, it's hard to reach back there to put them on straight. "Yours is better." His is at least not made from old craft supplies found in a closet.

I actually wonder where Nadas such a costume. Did he steal it from a costume store? Or worse, from an unlucky trick-or-treating child? Did he borrow it from a friend? Is that actually his real face, with a minor illusion to make it look like a rubbery mask?

Of Idols and Princes

Another dynamic duo of guests arrives, eager to take sweets and kick back!

Although those intentions aren't terribly obvious, if the first of the pair is anything to go by. Stepping forward somewhat hesitantly in knee-high boots of red and gold, Fidelia looks a little apprehensive. It certainly can't be fears about how well she looks in her costume, can it? I mean, sure, the cobalt blue skirt she's wearing leaves a bit more leg visible than usual, but that physique of hers is a perfect fit when it comes to pulling off the princess of Themyscira! Although admittedly, Wonder Woman isn't known for having any facial scarring. Nor a painful-looking mess of them stretching out from under the back of her armored corset. Not that it ruins the look or steals the show nearly as much as the squire thinks they do, adding a bracelet over one of her bracers and entering the [Fourth Floor].

Something Sekhmet remembers, as if in a dream, floats back into her head. A voice. "My little goddess of war." Realization visibly dawns on her face. She's never heard of this place, but maybe her parents had. "Oh, uh, I see." She's not sure whether to be pleased to finally understand her very unusual name, or to be appalled at the fact that she's named after a heathen goddess in her capacity for war, although it seems she was a goddess of some good things as well.

"Ah." Holly nods. "I see."

Looking down at her own Magtok-esque costume, the half-elf tries to remember what made her decide it. To be honest, it was mostly on impulse and was convenient because his metal side matches which side of her face the scars are on. "I had a really nice purple dress I wanted to try on," she says, "but couldn't think of any good occasion to wear it until now. The hard part was finding flowers that looked good with it, however."

She's referencing the flowers woven into her hair.
