If we ignore her crush on gill and everything that comes with it, she seems surprisingly (for her family, at any rate) sane and stable, while still being pretty good at the whole politics thing.

There are times when I get a Bing Crosby / Bob Hope feeling from Tarvek and Gil (not necessarily in that order). And Agatha for Dorothy Lamour. "We're off on the road to Skifander…"

I mean, all Seffie has to do to be a good second choice is clear the very low bar of being less awful than Morty.

Also, on a reread, I suddenly found it worrisome that Dimo is developing an interest in politics. Can you picture him as Lord Mayor of Mechanicsburg without an icy chill running along your spine? Me neither.

Well, Dimo has turned into a general since the Timeskip, and the other generals have all demonstrated a good understanding of politics. I agree him being a mayor would make me nervous, but so would any of the other generals being a mayor.

She has friends (to the definition available in the GG world) she cares about who she doesn't just see as political pawns, for one.

Ah yes, I'd forgotten herfirendship with Colette. Still, "there's one person she probably wouldn't stab in the back for a momentary advantage" is hardly a glowing character reference. Tarvek has two friends, Martellus had at least five prior to Paris.

As odd as it may sound, how someone has friends is important. The relationship between Tarvek, Gil and Agatha in the platonic sense is healthy and built on snark and their gallivanting about the countryside. Tweedle's friends appear to be often the result of "it'd be politically advantageous for you to know them, oh hey they're cool dudes", which while not strictly speaking bad is not as nice as...y'know, normal friendship. Tweedle seems to have friendships along the lines of "business associates you like to go clubbing with on a friday afternoon".

I'd go into Seffie but ehh I don't really want to do that right now.

Yanno, now that you mention it, if this was Tarvek and Gil's story, the "Road To Mechanicsburg" concept would be more than sound. :)

(Yes, I'm marking my place for the new thread, why do you ask? )

Bob Hope and Bing Crosby made something like a dozen movies together in the form of "The Road to X". In said movies they had rollicking adventures, normally spent at least half the time at eachother's throats, and one of them got the girl at the end.

I preferred "The Road to the Inevitable Demise We All Must Face". Kind of a downer ending though.

    Important difference.

Also, Tarvek's family dynamics remain hilarious.

I wonder if the kid needed an antidote because Tarvek intentionally poisoned him, or if Tarvek's just inherently toxic due to some sparky bioexperiment.

England probably decided to pull the plug.

Tarvek's family probably reads The Prince to all of the children in the family while they are in the crib.

They think mr maccy is cute and optimistic, so it makes sense he is a childrens book to them. If they havent moved past such pedestrian levels of asserting control and maintaining it by the time puberty hits, they generally dont get to see the end of it.

Also, if they've blown the dome it's difficult to see how Agatha and Co. could actually escape from that. My bet is that it's Bang arriving.
