Re: Sticky thread to report typos
There are certain changes that I need to make to prepare the art for publishing, and those changes have already been made to the files that have the typos fixed. These range from things like color corrections (some things look different printed than on screen) to deleting the title and author line from the top of each comic. Putting the fixed ones up would require reversing those changes, which is time that I could better spend doing...anything. And since I don't remember what strips had typos and what didn't (and almost the entirety of the first book had major changes on every page, including straightening the borders), I would either have to sort through them all or convert and upload all of them. Either option is more time wasted.
Not to mention, one of the selling points of the books (especially the first one) is that the comics have been "cleaned up" from their original posting, including art fixes and typo fixes. So there is little incentive for me to change them in the first place.Rich Burlew

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
Found one in a (relatively) recent comic, it's an art error:
In OotS 579, Belkar is missing the arrows for his speech bubbles in the first AND the fourth panel.

I'm not sure if this is a typo or deliberate.

panel 5,
Roy mentions the red dragon of Reddragonsville.
Horace mentions the Green dragon of Reddragonsville.
I wonder if the first one was intended to be Greendragonsville

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
I know it's a joke, but I think that the joke was intended to be :
a RED dragon in GREENdragonsville
a GREEN dragon in REDdragonsville
I think the joke is that both towns had a dragon that was a different colour to it's name. Where one town has the right colour dragon, and one has the wrong colour dragon is arguably less funny. It might be what The Giant intended, or it might be a typo.

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
I just received On The Origin of PCs last week, and I noticed that on page 61, Vaarsuvius has "carriage" (or an unfortunately out-of-place use of the word cabbage) spelled as "carraige". According to the blurb/copyright information at the beginning, it's a November 2008 Fifth Printing, so this might actually be news!

Re: Sticky thread to report typos
For the record, Thog's thoughts are unbolded in 51, though they are lowercase. Interestingly enough, this one also features him musing about puppies, but there doesn't appear to be a running joke here, if that's what you mean.

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
I'm assuming this is a typo and not just Durkon's accent, but in #673 (panel four) he says, "Tha desert wind're much too strong...", which should really be "winds're" or "wind is".

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
Then I might as well repeat the nitpick that Belkar says the royal 3rd person when really it's the "royal we" or the "royal first person plural". Or maybe we should assume Belkar made that mistake. The "royal third person" means the "royal he/she/it", which is oddly appropriate for Vaarsuvius but not in this context.

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
In OotS #7 http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots0007.html Durkon states "Elan's in a bad way.... and I'm out a CSW's now." The error is "a" Normally it would be "of" or "o". I could be incorrect on this, however.

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
Why not let volunteers fix them? With PhotoShop, it's easy to get the correct letters from another speech balloon while editing the strip...
I'm sure plenty of people would be willing to do that and send the corrected strips back to anyone (mod or admin) who can replace the files on Rich's server. [If no one but Rich has access, then he could just create a temporary account for a volunteering, trusty mod after all corrected strips have been sent in.]
Rich wouldn't have to lift a finger...

Re: Non-sticky thread to report typos
Yeah, I know, but that shouldn't be a problem.
The online strips are likely getting infinitely more views than the books and I'm assuming they'll stay online pretty much forever, so I'd imagine Rich wouldn't be against seeing his main work and claim to fame (I suppose) finally move to an error-free permanent state through volunteer labor. It's not like leaving typos there will sell any more books now...
Not that I care that much, just pointing out that it would be both free and effortless if Rich wanted it that way.
