In other news (Which is more positive and no murder), I'm thinking of making my own lore and version of my Dungeons and Dragons 3.5 Dragon Deities which I also included my homebrew Dragon Deity, Selena.

    Spoiler: Who's Selena?
    Show
Selena is an Intermediate Dragon Deity. She's the wife of Io. She created her 11 Dragon Deity Children: Bahamut, Tamara, Hlal, Tiamat, Faluzure, Garyx, Astilabor, Chronepsis, Sardior, Lendys and Aasterinian. She appears to be a Great Wyrm Force Dragon. Her alignment is True Neutral.

Each Dragon Deity ruled a plane of their own and it's very different than D&D version.

I don't know if that's intentional or not...

But in all seriousness, the book is significantly better, mainly because it can afford to gone longer scenes to some characters (W, F, P, just for starters) and is able to set up some jokes far in advance.

Actually, you know what? The first half of Episode 3 isn't great, give me MEALS^TM, give me more development of Crowley being evil, give me the ambiguity over who the White Rider is, and give me more focus on the Them, instead of showhorning lines from the Dramatis Personae into dialogue. Have Aziraphale stealing Crowley''s angel cake sheet finishing his deviled eggs, the show version is too nice! While some bits of the show are great (such as changing the Wasabi into a Reliant Robin) it's just missing so much of the book that made me laugh.

Nah, the heats king is just supposed to get everything circulated well, but is still as internal as it gets. Pretty good analog for the heart, I say!

Now if you want to get a non-silly answer, I'd say heart-on-sleeve would be comparable to stickers on the case bragging about what's inside.

We literally separated chemistry into two categories, "stuff with carbon" and "stuff without carbon," because of just how much stuff has it. So yeah, that's definitely bragging rights!

You've activated my trap card: Vat of Bleu! When this is activated, it creates both 5 cheese tokens and 5 mold tokens. Now I can cast Fungal Evolution which lets me sacrifice 2 mold tokens to create a yeast token or a mushroom token; I actually have TWO copies of Fungal Evolution, so I'll cast them both, creating both a yeast token AND a mushroom token. Next I tap my Bakery to sacrifice both the yeast token and my Rolling Wheatfields in order to search my deck for a "bread" card and put it into play. I choose Ultimate Pizza Crust! I think you can see where I'm going with this, since the land I played on my last turn was Marinara pool... but before we get to that, since I only need 3 cheese tokens for the Pizza of Miracles and I have 5, I'll sacrifice 2 of them along with my last remaining mold token to play Stinky Cheese, which...

First off, Adam's biological dad's big scene. While I get the desire to have him turn up, the scene doesn't feel as nice as it does in the book where it's a subconcious move by Adam. In the series he's all 'you're not my dad', but the book made the point much better: Adam is told that his dad is coming, immediately assumes it's Mr Young because that's who he's viewed as his dad all these years, and subconciously warps reality to make it so he appears instead of Satan. Especially as, like everything, it paled before what the book made me think of when Satan was mentioned, which was a majestic, beautiful, and commanding figure to fit with one of the novel's themes.

Which brings me to my second point. If I may quote the book for a moment

No, I know, but because there was the relatively high profile petition I had no way to know if it was a minor mistake or a clever joke.

A large group of people also thought it was Netflix. It made the news (which was what Fyraltari linked to). The uncertainty was about whether you actually made the mistake, or if you were joking about the other people making it.

Well I hope to hear your thoughts when you get through the other four and a half (althoug not knowing where you are is why I've been very caredul to avoid unspoilered spoilers). Although I have to say that the series is in a weird place with me, I can understand that it's a very good series, but to me it's best quality is that it made me want to reread the book (which is, in my opinion, one of the few true masterpieces written in the last century).

Anyway, on a vaguely related topic, I was planning to pick up an urband fantasy setting I've been tinkering with on and off to write some short stories in it, and I began wondering if I should just start cutting down on everything and focusing more on the angel/demon stuff that crept in over the past year or so*. One of the things I've been thinking about is that, when you're not dealing with the more common instances of possession (because in this setting anybody smart enough to summon a demon can probably figure out that the ritals intentionally include no safeguards, and angels are unlikely to manifest even if asked) is what on earth they look like. Vastly similarI'm planning, but I'm liking the idea I came up with that demons tend to look a lot more presentable, professional, and potentially even modest when wearing a human shape and not just resorting to pillars of fire or becoming the ocean, while angels as beings without pride tend not to go with anything not strictly required for the situation.

While this does come out of disliking the entire 'sexily dressed demon' angle (oh sure, they can do that, but only when they want to). Both can appear as whatever they want, but as demons tended to have pride play a large part in their fall they tend to pay more attention. You won't find a demon in hot pink jogging bottoms with a lime green hoodie even if they're wearing a human face.

    * They always existed in the setting, but now they're pretty much the only superantural creatures that don't boild down to 'human with magic'.
