Outside V: More civilized than Inside

This place is just as it sounds. It's outside.
Want a change of scenery? Go outside.
Always wanted to visit the beach? Come outside.
Looking to have a climatic fight on clifftops? Attempt outside.
Secret meetings being held where there's no cameras? Try outside.
Want an ambush without nasty base defenses? Yep. Outside.

Any and all are welcome here. There are no NPCs unless you bring them in. The major exception is the creepy eyed squirrel. The creepy eyed squirrel does not interfere with anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel is everywhere outside. The creepy eyed squirrel is always watching. The creepy eyed squirrel never sleeps. The creepy eyed squirrel can not be damaged, manipulated, or killed by anyone. The creepy eyed squirrel will eat anyone's very being who attempts to do so. Anyone can god-mode the creepy eyed squirrel. You may pet the creepy eyed squirrel at your own risk.

Other NPCs currently include:
The menacing crabs. These intimidating creatures are usually found by the shore.
The non-existant duck. You'll miss every time you shoot at it.

There is very little you can't do outside. However, like always, please follow the forum rules and general rules of conduct. Private conversations can be held outside. If it seems like a private (secret) conversation, please respect that. Those having such a conversation should do their best to indicate it as such. Otherwise, other characters may stumble upon you. Those desiring to spy in on private conversations should first PM those holding the private conversation, more out of courtesy than anything else.

There are many areas outside, and people can be in multiple places outside. In order to keep areas outside separated so there's no confusion, consider bolding your outside location at the start of each of your posts, like so:

The Fields

Reinholdt sets up various targets and practices his sharpshooting. All these events recently has made him a bit rusty. To his left, he notes the creepy eyed squirrel. Giving him the heebie-jeebies, Reinholdt decides to head somewhere else.

The Cliffside

Calublufiok broods over his latest scheme as he flies over the cliffs. The creepy eyed squirrel is watching him again. He finds occasionally landing and telling the creepy eyed squirrel his plans helps him find holes in his plotting.

Note Reinholdt and Calublufiok do not interact because they are in different areas outside. They could interact, if Reinholdt moves to the cliffside. Of course, various things like telepathy help bypass this. Also, please note outside has no major buildings, though minor ones crop up from time to time.

And most importantly, enjoy outside. That's what this is all about.

An island cluster forms an archipelago along the coast. Some of the islands are settled, some not, but most are at least occasionally visited by the fishermen who work these waters.

Gersemi the seighkona lives on a small island in the archipelago with a single hut and a few sheep. Inside the hut, there is a single room, and a fireplace. A loom rests in one corner.

A mountainous, cliffy region with a prominent waterfall. A large quarry once was worked in these cliffs. Now, only a few scattered villages and solitary dwellings remain.

Layla looks terrified, clutching Jack's arm. "Jacky, what's goin' on?"

Jack holds Layla close with one arm while slipping the other hand inside his suit. "Looks like we stumbled on a crazy cult."

Yep, Layla's still there. Just married, scared out of her mind as the gazebo starts to float. Clutching to Jack. Yay.

Chapel of the Almighty Lord Gazebo

The "Deacon" smirks at the mention of a cult. He doesn't make a witty comeback or anything, and makes a simple motion with his hand.
The Gazebo begins to upend, attempting to dump the couple out onto the ground below. The "Deacon" takes hold of the altar to keep from sliding off himself.

Think about how you felt when you thought I tortured you! Remember that anger. Keep that going, because I deserve it ok! Is that what you wanted to hear?

It is not true though. I was angry because you thought you are the only person to go through that. Not because I thought you tortured me at some point.

[McBish]

I know I'm not the only one to go through that. I hurt other people! So go find one of them to help. She turns and starts to run through the woods away from him. Not really paying attention to where she is going, probably going to end up lost. Maybe.

((How high up are we? Because right now, falling and running away seems like a good thing.))
Wedding Chapel
Layla shrieks as her feet go out from under her, and she clutches wildly for something to hold onto. Oh look - the altar. Right next to the deacon - who she tries to kick. "What is the matter with you?! Make this thing stop!"

Grant runs after her at top speed trying to stop her before she ends up in the more dangerous part of the forest.

[McBish]

Well she was heading in the general location of the city but it would have taken her awhile to get there. How does he try to stop her.

He runs in front of her and prepares to stop her.

[McBish]

Just get out of my way, I just want to go back.

Jack also lunges for the altar, the hand in his suit coming back out with a loaded 1911 pistol.

Why? So you can go back to drugs and alcohol?

He says quietly, pain noticeable in his eyes.

[McBish]

She glares at him. I wanted to come out here, have a nice walk. Instead we walk into a trap. You use those monsters to threaten me. I want to go back to get away from you. She goes to shove him out of the way and head back.

[Saurous]

So, that means three people are hanging from an altar inside some sort of animated gazebo. You have to give the architects of this place some credit, they make sturdy altars.

The "Deacon" smirks at Layla, obviously proud of himself and his gazebo behemoth. "Now, why would I stop it? If I do that, then there wouldn't be something to kill you after your husband inevitably shoots me."

The Gazebo starts shaking violently. It obviously doesn't want these people inside it anymore.

[Chapel]

"I don't have to shoot you. I just want to." Shooting the deacon is dropped in favor of holding onto the altar with both arms.

Wedding Chapel-thing
Layla's eyes go wide and she swings a fist at the deacon's face. "Don't you EVER threaten my husband again!" Whether she hits or not, she looks down at the ground and gauges the distance. "Jacky - let go! Let's get outta here!" Following her own advice, Layla releases her hold on the altar. She falls a few feet until her feet hit the gazebo railing. Quickly bending to grab ahold of the rail, she swings herself down...dangles...and drops to the ground below. She rolls with it, leaving a dirt mark on her shoulder - but ends up unharmed as she gets to her feet.

Jack growls at the Deacon. "You're lucky that it's my wedding day and I'm feeling charitable, or I would shoot you." Letting go, Jack slides down feet first, hitting the railing and leaping off to land on the ground below, rolling to ease the fall. That suit gets dirtied, but he's okay.

((Deadtime in roughly 30 minutes warning.))

Chapel of the Annoying Gazebo Puns
The "Deacon" does not take the punch well, and loses his grip on the altar. He drops a few feet, before catching himself on the railing. The man grumbles, checking to make sure his nose isn't bleeding or anything with his free hand.

The couple may notice that the Gazebo has sprouted large eyes on the front, a pair of giant white orbs with a single black dot in the middle of each that glare angrily at the ground below. Also, the Gazebo itself seems to just be the head of a much larger being, as some sort of wooden body is rising up out of the ground beneath it. The clawed arms are free of the ground, and the Gazebo tries to swing the splintery fists at Jack and Layla.

Jack tries to get Layla down to avoid the wings of the fists. He also lifts the pistol and tries to shoot one of the black dots of the eyes.

Grant lets Angie leave.

And so Angie leaves. Making her way back to the city now.

The teagirl stares at the Risen Gazebo in horror. "Abomination!" she gasps.

And reaching into the cleavage of her dress, Layla draws her revolver (forgot about that, didn't ya?!) and shoots at the other eye as she ducks and dodges the arms. "Ya know - fire would be...great right now! Or running." Layla beams a grin. "A wedding to remember, Jacky - that's for sure!"

The band cheerfully starts playing this song.

Well, now there's a Gazebo with two bullets stuck in its eyes. The monster pauses for a moment between each shot, before continuing to smash the ground with its fists. It has risen a few more feet out of the ground, the rest of the gangly wooden torso now sticking out of the ground.

Meanwhile, the "Deacon" is still hanging onto the railing, swinging around as the Gazebo shakes and jerks.

Layla gets an idea! Reaching over, she plucks the flask she bought Jack from his breast pocket. And also the lighter he always carries. Grinning, she runs RIGHT up to the gazebo monster, takes a swig of liquor, and proceeds to turn her mouth into a blowtorch as she raises the lighter and spits the alcohol at the wooden body.

"Miss, NOOOO! You'll be killed!" the teagirl screams desperately. In her panic, she might be forgiven for forgetting that Layla is no longer 'Miss'.

Chapel of the Burning Effigy Gazebo

Oh, that does it. The Gazebo roars its screechy, haunting, cracking roar again, and swings its "head" back violently. This sends the false Deacon flying back up into the beast's "head," and he keeps himself from flying further by grabbing onto the altar again.
The flames arc up the Gazebo's torso, scorching the wooden frame. The beast decides to skip the rest of dramatic "rising out of the ground" thing, and instead just rips its legs up out of the earth. This is probably going to cause some problems for the bride standing down below.
