Roy proving he has good charisma, as well as actually bothering to not be fully lawful to the moot rules. Now if the clerics themselves vote, Roy may swing it, however Durkula may be able to ransom the vote by being the unexpected extra party.

This comic proves it once again, halflings have all the best lines in OOTS. Another great update.

Love seeing Shojo in the new style. Man, I miss him.

Also that defense by Loki was really in character for the ol' trickster. Well done, one would have expected him voting to destroy the world to flow much more easily, but that was great.

If Loki is saying no, and Heimdall is saying yes, then there's a good chance Hel will say no and Thor will yes too. This...will be interesting. And it'll be interesting to see what Durkon has to think too.

Oh, and the art is wonderful as always. Great comic.

Hot dang I don't think my body is ready for all those twists/reveals.
And we're so close to strip 1000. I'm just scared of what's going to come up next.

Also, hey! Another Loki in fiction who actually doesn't want the end of the world to happen after all! I always find that a much more interesting opinion to have for a trickster god who's reputed to be evil.

If Heimdall is telling the truth and they'll all move on to their afterlives--and the Snarl is what we've been told it is--then I have to go with him on this. No point risking the annihilation of anymore souls.

Wait, if the gods can only hear each other, and the voting is being done by the Gods...

Why is there a Godsmoot at all? Are the Gods not able to meet up on their side? We've seen Loki, Odin, Thor, and Hel all meeting each other to argue over various things in the past.

Why bring the clerics into this at all if they don't have a vote?

So the souls are not in fact consumed in the restructuring of the world, as far as the gods know. Important detail.
“Evil is evil. Lesser, greater, middling, it's all the same. Proportions are negotiated, boundaries blurred. I'm not a pious hermit, I haven't done only good in my life. But if I'm to choose between one evil and another, then I prefer not to choose at all.”

    Wow!

I think Heimdall made a great point that I hadn't considered: if the deities do destroy the world the souls of the mortals will continue to exist in the afterlife. If the Snarl destroys the world everyone (deities and mortals) will cease to exist entirely.

That means even Good and Neutral deities can vote to pull the plug with a clean conscience. It would be a pessimistic decision but not an evil one.

Don't get me wrong I agree with Loki but I can see Heimdall's point.

Agreed: great to see the Shojo scene through the new art perspective!

Also, the High Priest of Loki is an emo halfling?? Who'd have thought?

Edit: Also also, is that Natalie Dormer?

The comic will actually end on strip #1000 as the world is destroyed. The remainder of the two books to be published will be gag-a-day strips about the hilarious rule inconsistencies of 4th and 5th edition.

Support for my wild-eyed notion that Lurky Corpsewhiskers will prove to be the deciding swing vote in favor of saving the world continues to accrue rapidly.

(I know it's not really my idea, since I'm like 1 of 2000 people who had it, but I'm trying to paraphrase V's Belkar Hate/Lust theory. Cut me a little slack. )

The gods do not have a neutral meeting ground—or rather they do, and this is it.

Also, gods of different pantheons do not meet in person anymore, lest any debates or squabbles turn into Snarl Jr.

I can see Loki wanting to put off the resolution until the last minute, being the god of chaos and all.

I can also see Hel being a "no" vote, since she's actually got a High Priest now.

I've actually considered this might happen, but because Rich can't continue the comic for some reason.

    * I don't think this likely, but it is in my mind that there is a slim possibility.

Roy can still ask all these powerful clerics or other followers under them to help defeat Xykon with or without a request from their gods. But I think that plan may have a bit of a damper on it in that Durkula's plan here might be to create a bunch of high level cleric vampires to fulfill Hel's plan of power and conquest.
