Cute! I would suggest making the hands a bit bigger, and the ears a bit fuller to bring out the feline look. The eyes are a bit oddly shaped, like upside-down teardrops; maybe a bit rounder? Like, less pointed at the bottom.

Is this the same character as the one in your avatar? (Which is quite lovely, by the way.)

Interesting exercise in perspective, although I'm not entirely certain what the brown strip is. A ribbon? A cane?



I totally agree with you; OOTS is elegant in its simplicity. You seem to have a good feel for the style, too. :)

Constructive criticism...um, basically everything gurgleflep said. Though I would also suggest you consider completely omitting the outline on the fiery ball of magic; to me it adds a sense of ethereality.

I notice that you're using it as an avatar; might I suggest making it transparent? I find they tend to look better that way.

Thank you so very much hehe <._.> That is very useful advice. It may seem strange, I find OOTS style much harder than regular drawing for some reason, so the critique is very welcome.

Also yes, it's the same character as in my current avatar <^.^> The avatar was for Steampunk Week, which is why she's dressed that way in it as opposed to her more standard samurai or adventuring attire.

Oh, and if you need a frame of reference, you can look at Jacinda (strips 758 and 915) for an example of an OOTS-style catgirl. Ears, tail, and all. :)

Poppie "Jean" Petal, my character for an upcoming OOTS style Pathfinder game on the forums here. Personality-wise think a cross between Haley's self-loathing and early V - yes she's every bit as obnoxious as that sounds... but she means well! (She's a Fighter 1/Wizard 5 for reference, going into Eldritch Knight)

The squirrel is her familiar, who I have yet to name - at level 11 I'm going to hit him with a Permanencied Anthropomorphize spell and make him some miniaturized weapons and armor so he can fight beside me; because nothing says awesome like a squirrel whacking people in the ankles with a tiny bastard sword.

Mm yeah just a little darker. Red wine is just a bit transparent, going any further than seeing the shadows of the shapes beyond the wine and you've drawn a Rosé. But I assume you want to stick to red.
