Roy is starting to look bad-ass. My only consolation is that he is still way prettier than Bruce Willis usually is when he beats the villains into villainous pulp.

But it IS frustrating to see Durkola simply heal/wound himself, and it's like all that swordy damage is undone and Roy must start all over again.

I didn't quite get how Roy got hold of Durkola to drag him to the floor? May have been happening in-between panels?

Brilliant action writing , as usual. And many of the tactics we've discussed start showing up -- Durkula's spider climb. Roy vaults after him. Durkula still taunts him.

Looks to me like Durkula is winning. He's inflicted two slams on Roy and, while Roy has successfully stabbed and pinned him, I suspect his saving throw against domination is starting to drop noticeably. If he doesn't find some way to end this fight soon he's going to be in real trouble.

It occurs to me, however, that up on the balcony is a GREAT place for a dramatic entrance .

Considering Durkula hasn't even had to use a Harm spell yet, I don't see Roy winning at this rate. A flanking buddy or something would be nice, but barring those, he needs to change tactics. Also, if they're up on the balcony now, the vampire may take a crack at dominating the other bodyguards. Their saves might not be as good as Roy's.

However, it's looking worse and worse for Roy: he looks so battered in that last scene, and the HPoH is looking relatively unharmed

At least Roy has him in close quarters....and you know, impaled.

Roy's sword goes right into the stone work, if Durkon wasn't a vampire it would probably be problematic. I think we are about to see gaseous form here, is there anything Roy can do to him in that form?

That would be a breach of the Godsmoot rules. Sure, he could try to dominate them, if he's prepared to face all the bodyguards and the high priests - including those whose gods voted Yes.

Agreed, on all points. Here's hoping Belkar (or someone) can pull off a BDH moment, or Roy's in serious trouble.

He's now at -4 to attack and -4 to saves; it does add up if Roy's not careful.

Roy can still hurt him but not restrict his movements. Plus Durkula can fly straight up/hover in that form.

I hope not. If he comes through the window, that means he doesn't have his daggers and is a fairly ineffective combatant.

It occurs to me that if Roy is in touch-range for a slam he's also in range for a Harm. I'm curious as to why Durkula hasn't let loose with one of those. Does Roy have some sort of healing, such as potions or items, which would render the attack pointless and rob Durkula of one of his best self-healing spells? Or is he wanting to debuff Roy with slam first before following up with the finishing move?

    Respectfully,
