Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
Typical Werewolf - In the Style of Classic:
Another semi-experimental concept from Poppa Penguinator
This game is intended to have roleplaying. If you don't care to roleplay, that's fine, but this may not be the game for you.
Make sure to read all the rules carefully.
Rules:
SpoilerRules which are standard for Penguinator games:
Players are not notified of scry interference but are instead given randomized results. For the Fool, this will make their scry accurate.
This is a No PM game. If you are caught sending PMs or sharing QTs, you will be severely chastised. If someone sends you a PM, tell me. I can't police this just by myself, as evidenced by Monty Werewolf.
Each player will have their own personal QT for sending in night actions and asking questions.
No making your own QTs.
Game ends when one side wipes out the other or when that becomes inevitable.
If there is no kill at night, the reason may or may not be revealed based on how amusing it is.
No posting in-thread during night phases.
This game is based on fun, rather than winning. If you don't like fun or only play to win, this may not be the game for you.
Other rules:
There is no required lynch majority. Someone will be lynched each day.
Votes can be changed by editing a slash through former votes. Please make a new post if you wish to change your vote, rather than editing a vote into a previous post.
A player who does not vote for three consecutive day phases will be autolynched.
Editing posts is allowed, but deletion of posts is discouraged.
Wolves begin connected and have a single kill as a group.
Days are roughly 72 hours; Nights are roughly 48 hours. I reserve the right to end night phases as soon as all actions have been received.
Other notes:
Every player will receive a Quicktopic with a note as to who their character is within the town. You may not have specific night actions, but you aren't a nobody. The character you are given is not fleshed out, but rather a template from which to bring your character to life.
Note that roleplaying in this game is largely encouraged. If you are not willing to roleplay, then this may not be the game for you.
Although this game is in the style of Classic, there are several rule changes. If you are someone who plays only for the nostalgia of Classic, this may not be the game for you.
And as always, no exploiting loopholes.
The Setting:
In the quiet town of Domusvale, everyone went about their business. A small mining town, they had several workers who spent much of their time down in the mines.
...But then the miners stopped coming back.
Someone, or something down in the mines had been slowly taking the lives of the miners. Some suspected that the miners had just gotten lost, but even that was wishful thinking. Finally, one miner returned, hair white with fright, shouting that werewolves had taken up residence in the mines.
No one wanted to believe it, but the evidence was compelling. Miners had been disappearing with no trace, farmers had been losing livestock in strange attacks, howling had been heard at night... All the signs were there.
The town quickly offered money to the Rardmuk Clan, a clan of mercenaries who specialized in the occult. The Clan locked off transportation to and from Domusvale, keeping the werewolves at bay.
No one was getting in, or out...
Roles:
SpoilerAs this game is in the Style of Classic, there are no surprises. There are, however, some changes from Classic, which will be bolded.
Town:
SpoilerVillager: You are a villager. You win with the town, through elimination of Werewolves. You may not have powers, but you're still a somebody! Unlike Classic, you will receive a QT which details your role within the town.
Seer: You have a special power which allows you to see the roles of others. You can learn another player's role each night.
Fool: You have a special power which allows you to see the roles of others... sometimes. You are told you are the Seer, but you may not be. Unlike Classic, if you hit scry interference, your scry becomes accurate, but you won't know for sure that it happened.
Baner: You carry wolfsbane which allows you to protect one player each night. Unlike Classic, you cannot bane the same target twice in a row. You may bane yourself, but not twice in a row.
Mason: You are a member of the Rardmuk Clan who has a QT linking them to the other masons.
Wolves:
SpoilerWolf: The bog standard werewolf, you are connected to the other wolves through a QT and can vote for a player to kill each night.
Devil: An evil seer, you can scry for another player's role once per night. Unlike Classic, you begin play connected to the other wolves.

Re: Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
Sounds simple enough - in.
Quick question though - do the wolves have a QT, or do they have to try and do all their communication in thread without alerting anybody?

Re: Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
This seems so different from anything I've played before. But I'm willing to give it a shot. After all, I need to demonstrate to you people that I can not care about winning as much as the next guy.
If I have to roleplay I reserve the right to have a ridiculous character.

Re: Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
Three days for a day phase, Two days for a night phase? I've seen games where each were three.
For a blind-ish game, you want longer days for discussion purposes.
I also (noted in the rules) tend to cut nights short. It's free game anytime all the actions are in.Last edited by Penguinator; 2014-03-03 at 10:36 PM.

Re: Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
When I started here, I seem to remember 72/48 as pretty much the norm. The main reason it ever changed was to speed up long games, and sometimes not even then. Now 48/24 seems closer to the norm, but I'm definitely in support of longer days for more discussion, so long as discussion actually comes of it.
Anyway, I'm in, and I'll see what type of character I want to RP! ...and then probably adjust a bit when I get my role.

Given my recent inability to do anything right in one of these games, one where winning is not a requirement sounds like an excellent idea. Count me in.

In. I've actually thought about running a game sort of like this, so I may as well get in on this one so I'm close enough to notice if you made a mistake that I could fix in my own game when the summer comes around and I actually have enough time to confidently run a game.

I'm in. Things have been slowing down for me in the Realm of FFRP, so a Structured game with roleplaying should be a good start into a strange new land.
Note: I understand the concept of this game type, but as you may have guessed, I haven't played it before. Seems to be the standard game here.#27Sigatars

Re: Typical Werewolf - Loosely Based on Classic
Welcome! This game is, from my observations, more based on having fun than winning. There are some die-hard analyzers out there, but I'm not one. This should be a good transitional game for you. Anyway, welcome!
