Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
Nice. Lots of good references there. I love American Gladiators, and that IS a lot of spandex. Nice touch on Redcloak being the practical one. Also on avoiding the behind-your-back gag.

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
Trust the roaches to have a nice buffer of bad jokes to use on this occasion!
Love it, though I reckon Redcloak making a mistake trying to pull the wool over Xykons eyes.....his eye sockets, anyway.

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
Most despicable act, indeed!
Keith Baker, on the age of Erandis d'Vol:
Spoiler
... The miniature of her certainly makes her look older, but personally I like young Erandis both on the basis that the purge of the line started before she could grow into her full powers, and also because it lets her and Jaela have a vicious catfight sometime.
Maybe I'm playing a wrong game.

And here we thought a Redcloak had gone insane. It makes much more sense now.

LOL Indeed, who DOESN'T enjoy a nice rack?
There's one more bonus to torturing the paladin, too...you get to torture a paladin! Now that's something ALL of us have wanted to do at some point or another...

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
It's kind of sad that he's been torturing O'Chul for nothing for a long time, but I still like Redcloak. His reasoning was rather sound - this makes up for a lot of inefficiency.

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
Actually, this implies that the whole exchange in the last few strips, the bluffing and the sacrifice and all that, was completely meaningless. It was all just a show. Such a shame . . .

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
I wonder, was the roaches' comments about there being 9 sides just a joke, or an accurate count?
This strip certainly lends weight to the 'Redcloak was bluffing' theory, if he wasn't actually trying to get information out of O-Chul, just keeping up appearances for the sake of the new Goblin nation he's established ("Less reliable than a dwarf's sobriety" - brilliant).
Also, silver spandex?! What happened to style, Xykon?

And the updates just keep coming!
I love the Reanimated Gladiators!
And once again, the meta-knowledge of the cockroaches proves to be far superior to the intelligence of the rest of Team Evil... not that anyone's listening to them...Current Games:

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
Only one; they've been unified now.
And I think Redcloak's point is that "Redcloak and the goblins" is a separate side from "Xykon", they're just allied at this point in time.
I don't see how. Redcloak may have been exaggerating his position, but O-Chul's reaction to it was honest and legitimate. This comic doesn't make O-Chul any less of a hero.

That's an improvement: Redcloak does think and uses evidence. He's wasted in the clergy.

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
'The Bridge to Terabithia' is a pretty well-known book about an imaginary fantasy land :D
Anyway, excellent chapter - was the reference to his complexion a jab at the fact his colour was a bit off before you fixed it? *remembers mention of something like that in previous thread*Last edited by Arraxis; 2008-04-11 at 07:33 AM.
In the name of the Back-Alley Alliance! This hand of mine is stained deep red! It sadly cries out to reach his heart! Take this, my love and my anger, all in one blow!! Sorrowful Fist!!! Dead End!!!!

Re: OOTS #548 - The Discussion Thread
It's funny. There were no real "Laugh Out Loud" moments in that strip, yet it is undoubtedly one of my all-time favorites. Of course Redcloak has long been one of my most loved OotS characters, so maybe that's why.
Anyway, this was great. I loved getting a glimpse into the history between Redcloak and Xykon, as well as the reveal of the number of "sides" in the conflict. Good, interest piquing stuff! For another fantasy webcomic with Dungeons and Dragons, read Heroes of Lesser Earth now, before it becomes cool and everyone starts doing it!
