Default The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0371 - #0380)

Welcome to The Stick Awards II: Second Edition!

The Stick Awards are handed out to the best strips of all time as chosen by our fellow Playgrounders.

This week we are covering the comic strips 371 through 380.

For full details about the Stick Awards, please check out the main thread here.

To read more about the original Stick Awards, created by Nazzo, the 102nd, please read his thread here.

To vote in this thread, simply state which comic of the ten listed is your favorite. Bolding the number of the comic (Like this) helps it stand out.

Voting for this week will close on April 8th, 4pm EDT. Any votes made after that will NOT count toward the totals.

Last time, 367 Innocent Man was nailed for not knowing that it nailed its performance against Nale's group of entries. Its award will be shipped to it via mail to where it is currently failing to convince anyone that it should be able to sail away.

And with that obligatory tribute out of the way, it is time to celebrate the return of the forums! And what better way to do that than to vote for....

There a couple of good ones in this group, especially the couple of strips with the wizard guy in it. However, because I love the MitD so much, I will place my vote on #374.

375 gets my vote; with such winners as the potion dosage line, "apparently littering isn't against the paladin code," and the MitD's thought process from "smell like beer" to "piping hot plate of delicious chili cheese fries".

This batch starts really strong. Team Evil is just so damn funny!

I'm going with 374 - Black and Blue. We don't often see that much cartoon physics in OotS, and the punchline is just too awesome, even for MitD-standards.

I guess I'll go with #380. Parcheesi, foreshadowing major antagonists, time of month euphemisms, interdimensional travel, and a cliffhanger all in one page.

    #380

The Parcheesi joke is by far one of my favorites in all of OOTS. Also nice to see the IFCC in passing.

not a really strong batch, as it's mostly setups. Between 371 and 379, guess I'll go with 379 for a good Roy burn by the "old geezer".

Is there a Parcheesi joke? I don't get it, I thought it was just to show them a way to kill time... I'm not from the US, so I might be missing some reference...

Well, 379 and 380 both have some excellent lines. But 371: The Road to Heck has one of my favorite Xykon-Redcloak exchanges. So I'm going with that.

furious Re: The Stick Awards II: Second Edition (#0371 - #0380)

Shojo chucking the skeleton at Roy in 379 was one of my favorite things ever. It's the combination of the insult and the casual disregard for the remains of the departed that makes it work. Also the fact that Wizard Guy's hat is stuck to his skull for some reason. (Somehow, Roy's reaction of "Gah!" -- which gets used a lot in OotS -- was also just perfect.)

I am sad, though, that I can't also vote for Belkar cheerfully agreeing to a game of Parcheesi in 380.

Lots of good stuff. #379 for me - the main protagonist got owned by an NPC. Again.

Really this is what cemented Wizard Guys position in all our hearts, even if it happened after he was dead and was really Shojo's doing.

I vote for 379. Not only are there some great lines by Shojo, but I think this may be the first strip where we see Belkar bonding with Mr. Scruffy. (Belkar holding out the ball of yarn just cracks me up for some reason).

Really solid batch here. 380 is a great strip, but I think I like the Miko/Redcloak ones just a tad bit more. I think I will go for 375 for the classic "logic". The Demon Roaches and the Miko/Windstrider interplay seals the deal for me.
