You jerk, jerk, meanie meanface jerkadoo jerky jerk!

Nah, it's just that I kinda would've loved to see you more in the IA contests/avataring scene before. But you've already explained why you didn't go into IA much, so that's all k and dandy.

I had a phase where I made avatars regularly, but that died down alongside ABR. IA.. well, maybe someday, when it's back up and running.

Things are starting to slow down for me now at the end of the period, so I'm finally getting the time to devote myself to some of the projects which float around my mind on a regular basis. One of these was to create a custom smiley set, as I've adopted the :3 smiley for my own, but at the same time feel it lacks expression, and it also doesn't mesh very well when combined with the forum smilies.

So, I wend ahead and drew up my own teddybear counterparts of the forum smilies, and then, because if I'm going anywhere, I might as well go over the top, I went ahead and learned how to program a Firefox extension just so I could modify the hotbar to the right into displaying and pasting these new smilies into my posts instead of the regular ones.

So, without further ado, my 14 home-made teddybear smilies:

( has been configured to paste a [roll]1d6[/roll] into my posts instead, because I never use it (the nonstandard size grates on my sense of style), and I've always wanted a swift way of making die rolls... )

I think it looks great! And if that's the only thing Cuthalion found to criticize, I'd say you're doing pretty well!

My comment: The yellow bird-feet kind of detract from the rest of the image. It might be best to do them in black, or maybe a dark brown if you don't want them confused with her fingers/hand.

Another thought: Maybe put a bit of a wave to the bottom of the cape? Nothing extreme; just a very flat sine wave.

    1. I say don't change the color of the feet. It looks fine to me and matches up with how birds are drawn in the comic.
    2. Round the ends of your nodes. Seriously, this helps so much it's astounding.
    3. Her hair has some weird corners. Either increase the miter limit or round the corners.
    4. My eyes might be deceiving me, but it looks like your strokes aren't entirely consistent. It looks better if they're all the same.
    5. Make her hands a little bigger. It's not a big deal, but it would look a little better (Especially the hand holding the bird).
    6. I agree, put a wave on the bottom of the cloak.

Now that I see it closer, there are two more things.

    • Make the feet at an angle. Almost nobody stands with their feet poiting in the opposite direction. It's just not comfortable.
    • Also, it would look a lot less stiff if you bend the legs just a little bit so she's not locking her knees.

Alternatively, make one of the legs (specificaly, our left/her right) angle slightly diagonally.

Oh it isn't that bad. Group up the shapes you usually make an arm/leg out of, duplicate it, put it behind the ordinary arm and increase thickness of those lines which now form the outline. I usually use a slightly thinner line for the colour than I used for the old black arms and a slightly increased thickness for the new black outline. (1-1.5 coloured, 2-2.5 black)

I think the new look for the arms/legs looks cool, but I'll be sticking with the solid black lines unless there's armor on that arm for example.

It might be nice to look at how the Giant drew grass in the wallpaper, I really like how he did it. Not that yours is bad, it's probably how I would have drawn it because I am lazy, but. If you can get it even better it will look even better too.

I love the new art style. I'm just going to have to play around with it a little to see if it's feasible to do with my current program and methods. If not, I may finally have to learn inkscape.
