My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic is a reboot of the MLP franchise by Powerpuff Girls artist Lauren Faust, currently viewed by (almost) the entire Internet, not only the intended audience. Here is a place where we discuss the joy of friendship.

It's a clever show. It has excellent writing, character dynamics, humor, animation, and generally treats kids seriously rather than condescending to them. It has every right to be a 20 minute corporate committee designed infomercial, but it's not.

Pixar technically makes shows for little boys, and produce some of the best animation in the world.

No Brony could ask for more. I recommend watching the episodes in order. They're all up on Youtube. Unusually, Hasbro seems fine with having the entire series up in public because they've made no move to bring down any of the episodes. Search for "Friendship is Magic Episode 1" and you should find the series pretty easily... Or search for "Sharing is Magic" Google Doc. That is all.

Whoa, calm down there. The show is light hearted, optimistic fun but it's not for everyone. It's good fun, the community is good fun, and everyone can do with a reminder that friendship is magic but if it doesn't gel for you we'll love and tolerate you anyway. Plus, you might hit the wrong episode. Ask first?

All in good fun! If it's not your cup of tea, skim it, but this show has triggered a great creative outpouring from the Internet. Pony themed fan-art is abundant and often excellent. See below for some examples.

> Derpy Hooves/Doctor Whoof

Two minor background characters who were adopted as emblems of 4chan. Derpy Hooves is so named due to an animation error in the first episode that had her eyes facing in different directions; 4chan has assigned her the role of Ponyville's mailpony, and her only line so far has been "Muffins". The show's animators are aware of Derpy's popularity and she's shown up a few times recently with her eyes obviously derped. Currently made canon in Feeling Pinkie Keen and in Faust's picture showcased below, Derpy was deemed important enough to appear in storyboards for Season II.

Dr. Whoof is a pony with an hourglass cutie mark; he and his kin save time and space very quietly off camera.

Alright, so, that thing I was going to post in the last thread, but was afraid it'd get ignored when switching threads. I intend to do a little research for a fic idea I got, and so I post a question to you all:

What do you think makes the ships between Rainbow Dash and the rest of the Mane Cast work, individually?

By which I mean, why would Twilight Sparkle be attracted to Rainbow Dash, why would Pinkie Pie be attracted to RD, why would Rarity be attracted to RD, and so on. Stuff like, "Applejack would be attracted to Rainbow because she's a challenge, stubborn enough to hold her ground against her," and, "Fluttershy would be attracted to Rainbow Dash because she provides stability and courage that she wouldn't have otherwise." And the more reasons I can get, the better, so don't be afraid of answering for somebody who's already been covered, even if it's completely contradictory!

If anybody wants to know the concept of the fic (it's not imperative to answering the question, though if I do end up writing it, the concept could help you help me think of a title ), it's spoilered at the bottom of the post.

Also, quoting my fic recommendations so THEY don't get lost in the movement to the new thread.

First is You Can't Be Missed If You Never Leave by Staeg Masque. I won't waste your time summarizing it since you'll see the summary when you click to the Equestria Daily post. I'll just say it's TwiDash and leave the rest for you.

Next is A Precious Rainbow by milesprower06. It's a sequel to Cupcakes that relies on a tiny little change near the end of the story, but it's definitely worth reading (and it's worth reading Cupcakes to read this one, it's amazing). If you like it, the author's written a few sequels and is writing a side story too, which you can find on his profile, and the sequel links spin-offs written by two other people.

Last would be several of Ebon Mare's stories, but In The Rain is the one I'll focus on. I've also read In The Dark and Crumbling, which are both amazing stories as well, but much much darker than this one. Anyway, In The Rain is a cute little TwiDash story with two different endings, which I thought was interesting.

Basically, the Mane Cast decide to get revenge on Rainbow Dash for the various pranks she's pulled on them, and all decide to "admit their feelings for her" on the same day. The above question is so I can believably have them fake interest in her.

She is either planning on killing Twilight, or instantly making out with her. Sounds about right based on the fanfics I've read.

Still, I think this is rough around the edges at best, so if anyone has better ideas, feel free to speak up.

Rainbow Dash is blank card. All we know she is competitive and likes Wonderbolts. You can paint virtually anything you want into her, which is how you can make virtually any pairing with her work. I'm not sure if this is helpful with 6 pairings, as you'd need to add too much to her, so just use things she has in common with the rest of the cast? AJ, FS, and PP work almost without adjustments, Rarity can claim she loved her posing as model, and Twilight... It's the only one that requires a bit of work, but certainly doable

For Twilight: Simply have her play it at Dash as an opposites attract angle. Twilights smart and not particularly outgoing, Dash is Brash, Athletic, and in your face.


For Rarity: have her play it as Blue Blood left such a god awful taste in her mouth that she doesn't even want a technical prince anymore. No, she want's a Pony who was born to no special status, but has preformed such feats as legends are made of (Sonic Rainboom comes to mind.) and has the body of the hero's of Old. *Cought, Dash is Uber Athlete and pulled off Greek Goddess look at Gala, Cought.*

As already Stated, AJ, FS, and PP pretty much write themselves via the shows canon.
