April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
The Cabalistic Carnival:
A shockingly sinister game from Poppa Penguinator.
In the annals of history, there are events that go unrecorded. Occurrences so sinister and twisted that no one wants to remember that they happened. The sort of things that parents tell naughty children at bedtime, believing them to be no more than simple stories. This is one of those tales. ~Remus Shanty, Innkeeper
This is my yearly April Fool's game, not bothering to hide it this time. Although it is an April Fool's game, the setting is intentionally dark.
Make sure to read all the rules carefully.
Rules:
SpoilerTHIS IS A NO PM GAME! If you are caught sending PMs or sharing your personal QT, you will be out of the game. This includes quoting any QTs.
Each player will have their own personal QT, to send in night actions and ask questions.
No making your own QTs and inviting people over. (Someone asked)
Game ends when one side wipes out the other or when that becomes inevitable.
If there is no kill at night, the reason may or may not be revealed. And if not outright stated, it may be heavily implied.
Each player will have night actions/abilities. As such, if you are not using them, you may be replaced.
A high level of participation/discussion is expected. If you are not posting, you may be replaced.
Roleplaying is heartily encouraged, and at times, may be actively rewarded. If nothing else, this gives me something to work with. I hate having to write something like, "Well, Player X has no character, so when they died, nobody missed them."
Penguinator's Rule Of Meta Invocation and Slander Expectations (PROMISE):
No bringing up previous Penguinator games as a basis for factual evidence in this game. Somebody does it every game, and the information they use is almost always incorrect. It gets really old.
This game will be using Tie-Kat rules: If two (or more) players are tied for the most votes at the end of the day, both players survive, but cannot use any abilities they may have or be targeted by other players until the following night phase.
Things that make this game different from some Penguinator games:
SpoilerRoles are revealed on death.
You are free to edit posts. I will, however, discourage deletion of posts.
No lynch majority is required, and there is no minimum number needed to lynch.
Days and nights are roughly 48 hours, rather than 72 and 48.
And as always, no exploiting loopholes.
Things that make this game different from most games in general:
Spoiler~This is blatantly an April Fool's game. There will be something there that hinders progress for most, if not all, players. You may be actively rewarded for figuring out the April Fool's trick. If you have ideas, post them in your QT rather than in the thread. There will be a limited window for being rewarded for figuring it out.
~This game will include many experimental aspects. Many of the roles are untested, and as such, I don't promise that the game will be entirely balanced, and I don't promise that all experimental roles will be winners.
~I am finalizing roles used for the game based on how many players come, rather than looking for a certain number. Again, this could lead to some balance problems. Likely, there won't be any problems, but I like to give fair warning.
~Narrations matter, and may, in fact, offer hints.
~Ties do not result in deaths.
~Again, no PMs.
~Posting at night is not permissible, and doing so may get you killed.
~If I have received all night actions, I may cut off the night early.
~Ramsus' Scry Interference rules will be in effect. An accurate (Seer, Devil, etc.) scry which hits interference will be given a random result. An inaccurate (Fool, etc.) scry which hits interference becomes accurate.
The Penguinator Corollary: If a role is given as a scry result, that role does exist in the game. (Ex. You will not receive a scry result of "Voider" if there is no Voider role in the game)
Roles:
SpoilerBecause the game is based on who comes and not a set number, I won't have a set roles list until the game begins. In the spirit of my normal games, I won't release a full list anyway, as that would ruin the spirit of many of the experimental roles. Arr.
If there is anything I think the players need to know, that role will be mentioned once the game starts.
Players List:

Yeah, no point hiding it's an April Fools game given the timing and the fact you do it every year. In.

In as well. And I'm pretty sure that the twist is that there is no twist until everyone accepts a lack of twist, then BAM: Aliens.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
In. My guess for the twist is that revealed roles will all be blatant lies. Probably the lynched/nightkilled list too. The ultimate Unreliable Narrator.

My guess is that there is only one wolf whose goal is to find love and write a best selling historical science fiction novel about the dangers of lint.

Well in that case lets go with only one of us actually controlling the lynch and the position rotating every day.

This sounds fun. I'm in.
Just a random thought - I have a feeling there is going to be two different sets of werewolves competing against one another. Just a thought.

Re: April Fool's Werewolf: The Cabalistic Carnival
I started running annual AF games shortly after joining the Werewolf community. This is the fifth one. The others were: Inanimate WW, Monty WW, Typical WW, and Mutineer's WW.
You can read it, it's pretty short. I think it was a sum total of four in-game days.
Inanimate came when I was still running games which were based on the Witchhunt variant. Roles aren't revealed on death, editing posts is disallowed, no PMs. Very low-information. Wolves were all blind, and there were neutrals which had roles to cover anything that needed to be covered by the OP. I originally planned to end it on April Fool's day, but it amused me so I kept it going a few more days.
I will note that Inanimate was the first AF game, and since then is the only one that was not fully playable.
