Wizards' Guild IC
Spoiler: Recruitment OPIt's just a normal day in the wizards' guild, or so you thought. A memory alteration spell has scrambled your minds, so you can't remember who's who until they're lying dead on the floor. Speaking of which, there's the generalist of your group, bleeding out on the ground.
Now you do remember that there were nine of you - eight, now the generalist's dead - and four people visiting the tower. But there's more than twelve people in the tower right now...
You chose an interesting day to visit the wizards' tower. Whether it was a good or a bad day... well, that's a matter of opinion. Now, you can't remember who anyone was... but you know why you're here. And you're determined to get out alive...
At last, your chance has come! Those poncy wizards in their tower, thinking that they're masters of magic. Well, now they don't even know who's who! And most of them aren't even any good in a fight. Yeah, this should be easy...
This is a standard-issue werewolf/mafia game, except with a bunch of power roles floating around. Speaking of which:
Spoiler: Wizard rolesAbjurer You are a master of protective spells, and they're about to be put to the test. Every night, you can choose one target. That target is immune to being killed that night. You can target yourself, but not twice in a row.
Conjurer Rather than relying on enhanced senses and scrying spells, you send your minions to gather information. Every night, you can choose one target. You are notified whenever someone visits that target during the night, meaning that they attacked, protected, scried, blocked, or cursed that target.
Diviner You specialise in scrying spells, and hey, you only had to give up one school of magic! Every night, you can choose one target. You are given the result wizard, visitor or infiltrator as appropriate to your target's alignment. You always get an infiltrator result if the target is cursed by a hexblade, so watch out!
Enchanter You're great at getting people to do what you want... or at least, to stop doing stuff that you don't want them doing. Every night, you can choose one target and prevent them from taking their night action, including the infiltrators' kill (if you target the infiltrator trying to perform the kill). If they have a limited-use ability, they don't count as having used it. You can't block the Necromancer because they don't take a specific night action.
Evoker Look, there's a time for subtlety, and a time for fire, okay? You can choose one target each night, and burn them to death with your signature fireball. They'll be notified that the evoker tried to kill them if they survive, though!
Illusionist You don't see why you would learn conjuration or evocation spells when there are perfectly good shadow spells to copy them. Every night, you may pick two targets, in order, or the same target twice. If the first target is the Abjurer, Conjurer, Diviner, Enchanter, Evoker, Bard, Hexblade, ??? or ???, you will use their ability on the second target. You can choose yourself as the second target, and you don't have to worry about picking yourself twice in a row with the abjurer's ability!
Transmuter You're trying your best to put a brave face on this situation... literally. You can choose two people each night. Any ability that was aimed at the first will go to the second instead, and vice versa. You can swap yourself with someone else.
Necromancer Many necromancy spells are evil, it's true, but you're not the "undead hordes" type. You just want to help the dead get their voice heard. You can talk to anyone who's dead, unless they were disintegrated by a sorcerer. Mind you, not everyone will tell you anything helpful...
Spoiler: Visitor Roles??? You're glad you're here to help fight against the infiltrators and other nefarious individuals. You will be told your powers when you are granted this role, and your role will be revealed on death (unless you are disintegrated) or when you win the game. When you succeed at your task, you will leave the game, victorious, and the game will continue in your absence.
??? You picked a bad day to visit the wizards' tower, but you have more than a few tricks up your sleeves. Let's hope you can survive, one way or another. You will be told your powers when you are granted this role, and your role will be revealed on death (unless you are disintegrated).
??? This is awesome! You get to see the wizards' powers first-hand! Aww, this is so cool! I mean, yeah, your life is at stake here, but you wanna observe as many neat tricks as you can before the dust settles. I mean, and survive. That's the priority, here. You will be told your powers when you are granted this role, and your role will be revealed on death (unless you are disintegrated).
??? Don't mind me, everyone, just a normal visitor here. Heh... here you were, thinking this was gonna be hard, but it looks like everyone's busy fighting on two fronts. You should be able to do just fine, and be the last one alive. Well, maybe a couple of those other visitors can get out alive too, if you're feeling generous... anyway, you will be told your powers when you are granted this role, and your role will be revealed on death (unless you are disintegrated).
Spoiler: Infiltrator RolesBard You're a bit like an enchanter, only you can actually fight. Every night, you can prevent one target from taking their night action, just like the enchanter can. You can, instead or as well, grab your rapier and run someone through, killing them (only one infiltrator can kill per night).
Hexblade You're a master of curses. Each night, you can curse one target. Tonight, they will read as though they themselves were a hexblade to all inspection. You can also grab your longsword and slice someone to death (only one infiltrator can kill per night).
Spellthief Using your own spells is for wimps. Whenever you are the target of a night ability, you gain the chance to use the same night ability the next night - assuming you survive! You have to use that ability the next night, though. You can, instead or as well, grab a dagger and sneak attack someone to death (only one infiltrator can kill per night... unless, of course, you survive someone else's killing ability and use that as your spellthief ability!)
Sorcerer You'll show that puny evoker who's boss! Like all the other infiltrators, you can kill someone at night if no-one else among you does, shocking them to death with a lightning bolt. Once ever, rather than just killing someone normally, you can use a disintegrate spell, destroying the target completely - irrespective of any abjurations or other immunity, but complying normally with the effects of transmutation and enchantment abilities. Their role cannot be determined and they can't speak with the necromancer.

The wizards weren't sure what to do last night, so they went to sleep on it. Turns out that wasn't such a good idea, and now one of their own lies dead by daylight.
Unavenger died last night. They were the Generalist.

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
Let the games begin!
I’ll vote AvatarVecna to start, since this is a wizard guild and not a lich’s cabal.

Oh, yeah, the missing role was randomly determined so it's entirely possible there's only 7 town.

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
I've underestimated how hard it is to say something on day one without a (real) nightkill. (Not that the speculation about the nightkill is usually very useful, but at least it is something to talk about.)
So instead I'm now complaining about not having anything to say.
If the missing role was determined randomly, that seems like it could have screwed up the balancing in favor of the town, since a game balanced around a 8/4/4 gets a lot more unbalanced if you remove one of the four wolves than if you remove a neutral or even one of the eight townies.
Unless the game was balanced in favour of the wolves before? It is bit hard to tell, especially without knowing the neutral roles and with so many roles that I have never played with before.
Anyway, it's probably better to assume the worst case of seven townies and four wolves than getting complacent and hope that we got lucky.
I'm going to start with voting forLibro, since his reasoning doesn't make a lot of sense. Not that mine is much better.Last edited by Alandra; 2019-11-16 at 12:07 PM.

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
My reasoning is purely a joke vote based on AV’s name while the game fires up.
Vecna is a god of secrets in the traditional Greyhawk campaign setting, and was a lich/encourages necromancy.
Hence their similarly-humorous response.

Burning down Forests is a Hobby in DnD. I don't usually do it myself because of a lack of Any Foliage where I am. If you'd like to donate a shrub for me to burn then please stay away from me.

How is it that I never notice when these games start? In any case, I vote gac3. If these past two games have taught me anything it's that not voting on the first day is the single greatest sin a human can commit. Or rather, that a canine can commit. Plus, he's drinking tea, the drink of an elitist wolf who thinks he's better than us good townfolks.

Hey! I'll inform you that tea is the official drink of this rather esteemed university. Not that you'd know, you infiltrator!
Using the magical power of the vote discovered hundreds of years ago, and for no other reason than aiding the honorable Xihirli, I construct the mystical counter-wagon by speaking a word of power and a name: delego flyinglemur!
- - - Updated - - -
Wait, how many votes does Xihirli have? I'm pretty sure this doesn't guarantee a lynch on flyinglemur.
- - - Updated - - -
Okay the votes are as follows:
(1) Xihirli: AvatarVecna
(2*) AvatarVecna: Libro, Elenna
(1) The Outsider: JeenLeen
(2) flyinglemur: Libro, Caerulea
(1) DaShain: The Outsider
(1) gac3: flyinglemur
*if the first person to get the that number of votes is lynched, this will be the person lynched.
I may change my vote later if any real evidence emerges.Last edited by Caerulea; 2019-11-15 at 11:18 PM.

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
I don't want AV to die, they've worked so hard making us games and now that they get to play they should go further than D1.
Honestly if I were picking someone to die D1 purely on who it would be most fair to kill it'd be me. I made it real far in the last two games. Ofc I know I'm technically a bad lynch so I am also the worst option from my perspective.
So I'm gonna point at flyinglemur for now to get AV out of harm's way.Spoiler: Check Out my Writing!

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
If flyinglemur dies and is town, I think we'll have some useful information.
That said, as The Outsider moved their vote, I'm going to move mine to Elenna. While putting a second vote on someone could be as innocent as they state, it also is a good justification for a wolf to point death towards AvatarVecna.
- - - Updated - - -
To expound and correct my thought, I guess regardless of whether the person who dies is Town or Wolf, we get decent info based on how votes move. But something about how they seemed to move towards flyinglemur and away from others makes it seem particularly useful.
Though I guess the votes could swing another way before the Day ends.

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
Okay, that's a good point. (The part about AV finally getting to play, that is.) As such, Xihirli.
(Also, if I want to keep up the "make a wagon and see what happens" strategy, you're the only person I can point to who isn't super new, and I don't like voting new players D1, feels rude if they only get to play one day.)
(Also also, in the event that this is actually a wolfish plan to get AV out of danger, that would make you also a wolf. Although that might be a bit too obvious to be a wolf ploy given what I said about watching the vote movement... *sips wine*)
Does the above help any? In terms of showing that I'm telling the truth about not wanting AV, specifically, dead, that is.I'm Chaotic Good! Ish!

Re: Wizards' Guild IC
I'm not a bad D1 lynch, considering the lack of info. Not gonna deny that.
I'd be a bad townie if I said I wasn't a bad D1 lynch based on role, of course but that's something everyone would say.Spoiler: Check Out my Writing!
